I'm happy that you found him. There was a lot of great advice given to you in this thread so you can ensure that this doesn't happen again.

My male is always very eager to explore and expand his territory when outside on free range. I have to watch him like a hawk, if I have to take my eyes off of him then my kids watch him. My female is much more chill when free range. Males have a instinct, so if given the opportunity he is going to look for better territory and a pretty female.

I hope that this is a learning experience that will help your guy stay safe in the future.

Yeah I have to agree with James, I also defended you saying I do the same thing but like James said we don’t go far from our widow so we can still keep an eye out. My guys are on hanging pots so if they want down to the ground they will have to throw themselves off a pot. It just seems like now that you are trying to lose him intentionally

I will post pics in a little bit, to give you guys some context... My backyard is small, and closed off with high walls. It only has 2 trees. The only way for him to leave is by walking out a big open space, or by scaling a wall. I was scared he managed to scale the wall, but turns out he didn't leave (as was expected) and just went in the next bush over. The reason I got scared is because he was right where he was supposed to be, but I didn't see him since he was too well camouflaged.

I'm lowkey broke right now, can't afford to build an outdoor enclosure.
I think you guys will understand why I leave him outside unsupervised when you see the 14 foot walls that surround the tiny yard... Wait for the pics. My main concern is birds, which is why i got scared. but I live in a city, where there are rarely even crows.

There's still that $10 laundry hamper option JacksJill mentioned (I've seen outdoor pet playpens that are similar but more secure for a bit more.)

It's not the crows; it's the raptors. IDK about CA, but in the city where I live, there are hawks, falcons, owls, & turkey buzzards.

Then there are the rats. Again, IDK about Mountain View. In many cities, with Covid-19 having shut down restaurants, pizza rats are getting hungry & desperate.

I don't understand how i can use the laundry thing... Do I just put the cham in the laundry thing with a plant? It seems a bit small.

Pretty much.
I've been looking at some similar to this (can't find the others ATM).
It's a bit small (16x16) but I think it's the idea.
I think they're praying mantis enclosures. Still inexpensive, but might do until you can afford to build something more substantial.

Here are the pics of the yard. I put him in the tree in the corner of the first pic. As you can see, VERY tall walls. There is only one way out, which the cham has no reason to go to with the two trees he already has.
