jackson basking behavior

hi everyone! i have a 1+ year old jackson chameleon and when he basks he closes his eyes. i was wondering if this was normal. he goes to a herp vet for checkups and isnt sick, hes perfectly healthy. my other 3 chams dont do this and maybe its his personality. he doesnt sit on the branch funny at all, he does the typical lean and flatten out technique and when hes done on that side he flips and does the other, he just rests his eyes while doing it. he shoots his tongue fine too and cleans them regularly with his mistings. just seeing if you guys have experienced this with any of your little ones.

Closing the eyes is not normal for a cham to do in the day, as it goes against what they need to do in nature in order to stay alive; and that is 'stay alert for potential predators and food'.

The one year mark, in my experience, is when in the past, i've noticed my Jacksons start to gradually get sick. Double check all your husbandry. Make sure his food is gutloaded with the right foods. Make sure his feeders are dusted with D3-free calcium. Take him outside for natural sunlight whenever possible, and make sure he's properly hydrated.

Worst case scenario, he just has a really weird habit.

sorry, no photo. also, its hard to get one because as soon as he senses me he opens them right up. didnt see that this had active comments sorry. i appreciate them. all my husbandry is up to snuff, i obsess over the care for these guys. if i can catch him doing it ill snap a pic. he doesnt do it all the time however ive just caught him doing it a handful of times, i should have been more specific.

It is a little unusual to say the least. I would definitely keep an eye on him, and if he shows any other signs of illness (and make no mistake closing the eyes is usually if not always a sign) I would get him to a good reptile vet for a check up. Does your vet know about this situation? And if so what does he or she have to say?

they dont know about it and hes due to have a checkup soon anyhow. ill keep an eye on him and get him to the vet soon. he was doing it around the time that i first posted it but he seems to be awake and active everytime i observe him recently.
