Well after a month or so of reading on this forum, I think I have my cage up to par and will be getting my Nosy Be in the mail in the morning.

I have the pet screen in the door and the aluminum over the top. Mist king is in the bottom with drain catch. Timer on mist king and on lights.
I'm looking to do a ceramic tile floor with drainage in the near future.

Pictures of the little man will be added here in the post in the morning when he arrives.

set up

yeah looks like your cage is up to the job.. looks good.. few questions on it though... on the drainage is the water circulated back into water supply??? is should drain into a seperate tub... other question is on age of the cham you are receiving?? young? baby chameleons need a smaller terarium for the first few months.. just for feeding.. if its a young cham , try to get it to cup feed in the large cage...... last and not least.. if its a baby or 2-3 month old cham.. the plastic coated pet screen can be a problem.. the babys toe nails and tail can get stuck.. hope any of this info has helped even a little,,, cage looks great.. off to a good start.. congrats on new cham..

Thanks Joe, He'll be 3 months, going to try to do the cup feeding. Yes, I have to seperate water containers in the bottom.
I do have the pet screen in the door and I put some on the back wall for another option on climbing.
I kept the glass in the sides to see if I can keep the humidity levels up, I do live in South louisisana.
Kinda hoping I have enough options for him to travel without using the screen to much. I still have about 10ft of 1/2" vines I was holding on to till he gets a little bigger.

I picked up 30 crickets to hold me over till my 500 come in the mail with some fruit flies.
I'm pretty pumped on this.
He's coming from Jim at the Chameleon company and he has been a great guy to work with.

awsome choice, cant go wrong with Jim

i actually wanted to get a nosey be from him as well sired by Greaseball but change of plans

and his ambilobe Hyperion is amazing, def want a female from that guy

anyway goodluck and you have a fantastic start

BTW which sire did you choose to get your noseybe from???:D

I think we have the same taste, pops will be Greaseball.
I bought and paid for him two weeks ago and Jim said he could hold him for up to 30 days with no charge or problem.

So here's to my first try at a Chameleon, I hope I did my homework right and I still have this wonderful forum to fall back on.
(also a 2x2x4 screen cage just incase "maybe an outside cage").

And have meet some great local people from this forum "Oldworld & moviemanmania".

Lemmy is here and on the move. He came running out of his little bag, lol.

It doesn't seem like the 60w bulb is putting out enough heat so I played with an old red bulb. I think I'm going to buy a 100w to see what temps I get out of it. My light fixture is a deep dome.
Temps are in the low 80 right now with the 60w.

Will get better pics with the 50D later after he settles in. These are with the phone.

When should I introduce food? I have some crickets with more being delivered with fruit flies today.

He looks great! The enclosure looks good also. If he's willing to eat, you should feed him as much as he's willing to eat since he's a growing boy. :)

Hey Lemmy looks just like my Darwin. Darwin came from Jim as well. I have had him now for about a month and he was 2 months old when I got him (DOH 5/11/2011). I swear he has doubled in size since the day I placed him into his enclosure.

Darwin was thursty right off the bat and also ate the same day. He is now eatting about 20 small crickets a day, along with 1-2 hornworms, a few Reptiworms and maybe 2-3 silk worms a day.... he is a little pig.

He also just loves dragon flies. I have a large pond on my property and we can walk back anytime and catch a couple in minutes with a butterfly net. I'll place one in his cage and he goes balistic until he catches it.

Jim is a great guy and I am really glad I got Darwin from him. Good luck with Lemmy

Great Setup! Lemmy is looking really good. Son of Greaseball... he is gonna get some really cool coloration for sure. :D

He looks great...I think temps in the low to mid 80's are good for him. Nothing too warm. I actually use a 40w bulb, and some don't use a spot at all just the UVB.

Lemmy is already doing good with the cup feeding also.

Looks like I need to do a little reading on the fruit flies, I have no clue what to do with them. I had just read that the little ones like them so I added them to the cart when I got my crickets.

Also I dont think he cares for the mist king to much right now, lol.

I'm such a proud parent right now.:D

Your setup looks great and leme looks very happy. Dont worry about the misting freekin him out too much. He will get used to the routine and grow to like it.

Congratulations on your first chameleon Donnie! It won't be your last, lol. I bet your daughter is super stoked. Great job on that cage. Looks like a chameleon paradise. I wish I held onto my surplus silkworms, lol. I could have given you around 200 silkies. My little mulberry tree could not keep up with my hundreds of silkies, so I had to feed most off to wild birds and my Oscar fish. I just installed my mistking, and only one of my four chams seems to enjoy the mist. I'm sure they'll all get used to it. Can't wait to see some shots with that Canon.

Looks good Donnie. Be sure you are gut-loading your crickets really well, squash, kale, collard greens, carrots, potatoes, and fruits.

How long are you running your mist king for? How many mists a day?

Make sure your supplementing/dusting your feeders. Calcium every feeding, calcium with d3 2x-3x's a month and a multi-vitamine herptivite 2x's a month. They grow very fast when they are small and their bones will loose calcium quickly if they don't have the supplements.

Have you seen him eat/drink yet?

Cage came out pretty good, I want to see your drain system when you get it installed. I'm here if you need anything!

little update of some pics

Looks like Lemmy is growing, his first shed with me. He just busted right on out.

As of now he is in my wife's hands, while I'm at work.

Jon, we've seen him eat and drink pretty good. Still fine tuning the mistking, dusting pretty good and trying to work out the best gut-load we can.
Going to hit David up for a couple of those dubias to see how he likes them.

And David, some pics from the Canon, lol.

i have a 3.5 month ambilobe from jim at cham co, sire is beetlejuice, hes growing up so fast and it seems as soon as he sheds he bursts out and its back to shedding. Hope your grows this fast but as soon as he gets to that 6 month moment and bursting with color youll be reminding yourself about when he was a baby....
