HEY GUYS! i have my little lady Fran, she is about 3 and a half months and i just SCORED on a local deal, a guy custom made a full size cage and gave me that with a bunch of things along for one heck of a deal, 85 dollars for 2 cages both lights and fixtures, 4 cans of vits for crix, buncha veins and climbing things, Manzanita climbing branches a crix cage with 2 tubes and some crix food c: OH and i forgot, extra screen and 2 timers for my lights (FINALLY) :D
i will be posting pictures of Fran tomorrow and with her new cage :) she is definitely not big enough to be moved into a 2 foot wide / deep and 5 feet tall cage :D she would get lost hehe :D She just shedded for the 2nd time since i have had her yesterday, and i have had her for a month tomorrow YAYYYY :D it just hits me so haard every time i think a month ago she wasnt hardly as big as my finger, shes now bigger than my hand! :O anyways. though i might update you guys on fran, she is doing fantastic :D
OH i had a question, on the top of her Veil, it bends a little bit not much but a little and i was wondering if thats normal? Its like a curve not a bend in the top of her Veil

Here is a tip - do LOTS of research before venturing into the Cham keeping world. They have specific requirements that MUST be met. They also requirement a big commitment from you - and that includes finances.

Good deal. Make sure you find out how old the UV lights are. They may need replacing if they are second hand.

I am no expert but I think I have read on here that the bend or curve is fairly common. I dont think its serious (unless the Cham has MBD). Perhaps someone with experience of this can shed more light on this.

uM Do YOu Know Where i Can Find Some of These Forums/Threads To Get Me Started. :) i Love Chameleons.

Firstly you need to decide which species you want. If you are a beginner then I recommend a Yemen/Veiled as these are the "easier" of the bunch. Although, its not "easy". Have a read here.

Post pictures!!

:) I thought Tanzy was too small when i moved him into his big cage. Some people set the baby cage in the big one. I didn't do that but i do have the plants raised until he is larger. He loves it!!! Now his baby/outdoor cage looks soo small! Did you say she is bigger than your hand?

you said it came with extra screen. Is the custom cage itself all screen?

take care

livee on this forum (and other places) just do tons of reading. a few members on here write excellent blogs for beginners and they really helped me. sandrachameleons blogs will help with gutloading your feeders and jannb wrote a really helpful guide for starting with a veiled or panther. Those are the two i have read most often recommended for beginners. In saying beginners it is probably a good idea to have owned other more "tolerant" types of reptiles before jumping into chameleon keeping.

gl. They are so cool!
