Male panther with dull colours.

Obviously I don't have any knowledge about what's available over there as I am in the US. My assumption was based on the coloration alone and not the pardalis market over there. Once again my bad for being an ass, I tend to get carried away some times.

there not as sought after over here and you can get them pretty cheap, like I said $150 is about where i see them at usually. over here people tend to like panthers that are vibrant all the time and not dark green usually and that fire up super amazing reds and oranges. However I tend to love the vibrant oranges and reds, they are truly amazing.

EDIT: Well atleast people in pet shops and people who are breeding for solely profit and not for the love of the chams tend to breed only super vibrant ones that are even bright at rest.

no probs dude

i will be honest the us panthers do have stronger colours than most of the uk. you do get the vibrant coloured chams, but they are few and far between

what about ankify, they are one of my favourite locales, i have a trio of ankify. are they easily available in the us?

It the US I'm pretty sure the ankify get thrown in with ambanja as I haven't really seen ankify available here. However there are some ambanjas with the strong red and yellow washed background over blue in the first half of the bodies just like the ankify show. When I say people breeding for profit solely I'm not talking about any of the site sponsors or anything, as we know they all love their chams very much, I'm talking more about some dude who decideds to get a pair of chams just because he hears how many eggs they lay and how much they cost. Personally I don't think your guys selection is all that bad at all. I saw tons and tons and tons of pictures from a former HAMM show and i couldn't count the number of those panthers that I would have over drafted my bank account to buy. It's just the different names for locales and stuff that gets me. For example picasso isn't really used here, its red or blue bar ambilobe or just ambilobe. Also sirama isn't used here or ankify or that one with the crazy name that kinda looks like an ambilobe sorta, umm ampiskiana i think is what it is called.

ankify is mainly europe i think, mine are F1 generation animals :D (wild caught parents), dont really hear of sirama, its just an ambilobe. there are alot of red bars for sale over here. i havnt been to hamm but me and my dad plan on going within the next year.

we get loads of idiots over here who think bout buying chams just for profit...they end up losing all their money. my mate has an ampiskiana its green bodied, dark maroon bars and like an orangey yellow face. havnt seen it fired up, think it turns oranges colours. i like the american nosy bes, the blue seems alot darker and richer :eek::eek:

I guess it just depends on who you get them from. There are not so blue nosey be's here too. The super vibrant ones, like the amazing ones from screameleons or kammerflage or the cham co aren't typical in nature. When the imported nosey be's come in they are usually tealish green with some blue and with the red around the eyes if you lucky. Sometimes even some have lots of yellow. They turn bluer the longer they are in captivity generally though. I havent' really seen any nosey be's from europe but I'm sure there are some amazing ones over there. You probably just have to look harder to find them, as opposed to just clicking one of the site sponsors on here who have them and typing in your credit card number. lol. I do like the red bar ambilobes, or picassos, that you guys have. They seem to be in a higher demand over there. We have plenty of red bar ambilobes here but it seems to be the blue barred ones that are super sought after. But like I said I love the reds and oranges and yellows so I like the red bars. I think it was a site called treelionsUK.com that had some super pretty red bars.

Do you have a picture of your ankify fired up? I love that goldish yellow and vibrant reds that they tend to show on the first half of their bodies over the blue background. I wish we had them here, or at least ambanjas that produced offspring similar to them as I think the two locales are fairly close in nature. Also I have seen jefforeville panthers for sale in Europe and have only seen one live specimen ever here in the Us. They are very interesting though.

Cheers for the replys everyone. And cheers Fowler for the advise mate.I am in the process of finding out where he was bred so i can really fing out what he is.
But the more i look at him and photos on the web ,the more he looks like a Masoala.

i to have seen this post on rfuk and wondered why he was so dull. if he is in with another male surly he should be fired up. i would check everything out before buying even if he hasnt got nice colours though he looks like a nice cham

yes they would fire up but if he was constantley with a male then it would lead to stress (hence dark colour). stevo im glad you got him, he should be happy now :D

Todnedo can i have your expertice on what you think of my cham being a Masoala.
Being has you no the species.:)

The ankify is gorgeous fowlers! He looks almost identical to one of the ambanja's I almost bought from a local breeder except your little guy has way way brighter red. I bet he is going to look amazing when he is an adult and fires up.
