Monsoon RS 400 questions

I know that most would recommend a MistKing or Aqua Zamp but I was giving the Monsoon so I will try it out for now. and I want to make sure I set up Rebels misting schedule correctly. I was thinking about putting an additional timer on it so that it does not run at night. Will this work? I was thinking of having it mist once every 4 hours starting soon after lights on and having it turn off after three misting session. I was thinking of having each misting session last for 1 minute (lights are on from 7am-7pm) Is three times a day enough? Is a minute enough at each misting?

Thanks for any suggestions.:D

I've always heard have it go off around 3 times a day for 2-3 minutes. That's what is usually recommended? I think?

I don't know what people have set up, but I saw that a couple times, so there's that. :)

Also really, I would not get a monsoon. Everyone says they fall apart and are not worth a cent.

Yes, you can put them on a timer. That's how I have mine set up. Misting frequency and duration really depends on your set-up and environment/location. To give you an idea, I live in an area where it is extremely cold and dry in the winter, plus I have a huge free-range situation, which means that it dries out very quickly. I have it running for two minutes every hour, and have four of them going at once.

I'll just wait until this weekend to set it up. I didn't buy this system it was giving to me. The friend that gave it to me had it for over a year and hasn't had any problems so I will just have to wait and see. I know that when I hand mist I do it for about a minute. I do have an all screen cage that is covered on three sides with plastic.

Rebel likes the mist and he will sit and drink the entire time I spray him but he also like a dripper so I'm thinking about putting one of the misting heads inside of his dripper so it stayes full.

Thanks for the input..

I actually purchased the monsoon 400 because I heard great reviews it was 100 and I feel it's worth every penny works great, fine mist foot timing sequence and duration settings and also works on a timer for night ! You can even hook up another 5 misters I started with the repti-rain which was horrible it's older modle was the habba mist didn't work for a dam but I enjoy mine hope it works for you

Make sure you definitely set it up on another timer. The timer is going to fail at some point, and your going to wake up with saturated floors. That being said, I have my outside setup with a monsoon on a ge. digital timer. I recommend 4 to 5 mistings. Set your monsoon on 90 seconds and have your digital timer set to go off for two minutes 4to 5 times a day, that way it will never do more than a 2 minute mist. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the suggestions. My extra timer is not digital but I think I can set it up that way anyhow. I'll look into buying a digital timer on pay day. The bucket that I have for drainage is a five gallon bucket and Monsoon only hold aprox. 2 gal so hopefully I wont have any floods..lol:D

I have the Monsoon, UVB light and Grow Lite plugged into a power strip plugged that is plugged into a timer; I have the basking ceramic bulb plugged directly into the wall so that it is on 24/7. That has worked well.

Beware, my first Monsoon did mis-fire and ran non-stop until it emptied. Fortunately I have it connected to 3 habitats so there was no flood. I was not able to get money back, but they do replace the unit. I've had this new one for a few months now and have fingers crossed.

some folks advise not filling the monsoon to the very top but rather an inch below the top, and to leave the screw top itself on somewhat loosely (water/condensation issues in the mechanics at the top I believe is what they thought was happening). I have been doing this and no problems yet.

Was wondering what digital timer you have. I want to make sure to pick up the correct one. After I set the mister up and set the timer on it I discovered that no matter what I set it at it goes off every 2.5 minutes for 15 sec. When I set this thing up on a timer do I still set the timer on the monsoon or do I just turn it on and set duration for 90 sec.? Thanks for any ideas..

I had a monsoon for about 8 months before it crapped out. As other have said put it on a different timer so you can stagger the first misting about 30-60 min after the lights turn on. This will let your Cham warm up before blasting him with cold water. Also I had mine set up to mist 2 min every 3 hours and it worked fine. Just be prepared to replace it when it dies. Overall it wasn't a bad misting system it just won't last.

I also have my UVB / basking light and monsoon hooked up all on 1 timer works great seems they can hole up to 2500 watts and I'm nothing near that so all good love my monsoon

Seconded. Mine decided to break whilst I was on holiday in Spain and a friend of my Mrs. was looking after the house.

Fortunately she called me to ask whether the enclosure should be filling up with water or not... :S

I have had about four replacements since, but cut my losses last month and got a refund. I will be importing a Mistking or Aquazamp as soon as I have enough dosh.

Anyway... moral of the story, for safety I would never use one unattended for an extended period without an additional timer.
