Long time reptile enthusiast, first time chameleon owner and I have to say that although I'm now pulling rabbit ears out of my pants pockets... I'm loving every moment of it. So here's the little (fingers crossed) guy that will be garnering my attention for what I hope will be years to come. The pics outside were during a brief photoshoot due to the extreme heat - as you can tell in the second pic. I live just outside Dallas and it's been tough to find a day under 100 lately to have some comfortable time outdoors. The first day he arrived my girlfriend started laughing at his hand movements and I thought of "wax on, wax off!", hence the name haha. Would love to here thoughts on the possible sex. Thanks, enjoy!

Robert,

Yea you can see how the angle changes about 1/2" after the vent. Also it is somewhat rare to see females with black barring when they are young. The angle change can be seen in the second picture and a little bit of bulge can be seen in the fourth pic.

I'm quite sure I see the tell-tale bulge of a panther male. Although I used to think male veileds had bulges too lol.

Cage Info:
Type - Screen all around 24"x18"x24"
Lighting - 18" reptisun 5.0, 75w infared, both set on a timer from 7am-830pm
Temps - Basking 96, coolest 78, night 76 at lowest
Humidity - 60%, misting at least four times a day for several minutes, constant dripper
Plants - Hibiscus as well as fake grape vines for aerial locomotion, an abundance of branches at all heights and diameters and bendable vines leading to the main source of dripping water off a leaf and to the feeding dish
Location - My bedroom in front of my window opposite side of room as vent and door, about 2 feet off the floor

Chameleon info:
Mr. Miyagi - panther cham, hopefully male, between 3-4 months though not definite, received the dedicated martial arts master july 29th
Handling - bare minimum, handled only twice other than out of the box, once to reaarange the main vine to assure access to source of drip and a few other arrangements and once to take photos and some sunshine
Feeding - Crickets up to this point though looking into silkworms and dubias, I place about 15 in a small cup suspended in his main "highway" around 9am every day and around mid afternoon if empty I will add 5 or so more, any leftover after 7pm I put back in the cricket cage where they are gut-loaded with carrots, yellow squash, kale, clementines, rice baby cereal, wheat germ, and fluker's cricket feed
Supplements- I lightly dust 6-7 crickets a day with RepCal Herptivite and switch off btwn calcium w/o D3 and RepCal phos. free calcium with D3 every other day
Watering - Use the Little dripper, I made a hole in the top for the hose which drips onto a single large fake leaf right at the top where the water drops off about two inches onto a bendable vine then drips through some more foliage and into a container with holes in the top. Drinks almost on schedule every morning for about a minute either directly from the leaf or on the saturated vine.
Fecal Descrip. - Moist dark brown with the relative small amount of white urate once to twice a day, hasn't been tested
History - I purchased him from LLL reptiles and he has been very active and eating and drinking very well and sleeping on a regular schedule :D.

Thanks for the input so far everyone and I'm hoping you're right CleanLineChameleons, davider, and spatulars. I've tried to read up as much as possible about sexing and am leaning towards Mr as well. He is supposed to be a Nosy Be x Sambava, even though I have read mostly good reviews of LLL, I know lineage can be tough to guarantee and honesty from a company as well so I'm hesitant to get my hopes up (though I must say the entire experience with LLL reptiles was very professional and reassuring, the packaging showed they cared about the chameleon and the paperwork contained great care info. though not gonna lie I tend towards OCD-ish analytical thinking and was heavily read and well prepared for Mr. Miyagi haha)

Hey Ryan, he is a Nosy Be x Sambava as far as I know. I can't wait to see some colors showing like on yours, very nice. The only colors I have seen were when he was outside, saw some blue and also red specks but it's just too hot here lately and was only out there for 10 mins or so.. I know I can't take the heat atleast being from RI this is not my ideal weather :(

Off topic, but my brothers partner works for the coroners office in Las Vegas and he picked up Mr. Miyagi's body when he died. :O
