NEW C. gracilis x calyptratus hybrid

Just like my macaw bubba is a shaMrock macaw but he has no scientific name. And nither do any of the other macaw hybrids. There are even macaw hybrid X hybrids out there with 4 species mixed in but none of them are a new species.

well mabey with all the reckless breeding and ect some infertals will be good for people. when they get these as pets they cant breed them; than breeding can be put to people who are good at it and have experience. this cross might be a gr8 starter cham:confused::)

I do not breed my chams, nor do I have any intentions to do so. I, for one, would love to have this as a PET.

If they are indeed infertile, does that mean females are incapable of producing eggs at all? Or just that any eggs laid would be non-viable?

The above scenario (no eggs at all) would also make me consider keeping a female as I would not have to worry about laying bins and unnecessary stress on a female I never plan to breed. I keep males only because of the above reasons.

Glad to hear they are doing well. Intended or not, this is an interesting development. Pay no mind to disparaging comments. Enjoy your animals and keep the updates and photos coming.

Sorry for the long wait here are some new pictures =)

You have some beautiful little animals here! I have pondered participating in hybridization of panthers and veileds for some time now, just to see the beautiful result! Your babies look very healthy and wonderfully colored, I am very interested to see how they will continue to develop. Please keep us posted! :)

Not everything has a chance to hybridize.
Due to the species in question having separate genus I would have to say it is not possible. Only very closely related species can hybridize.

Gotcha, that makes sense. I'm ready to see these little babies grow up, though! I am sure it will be a very interesting combination!
