New Female Veiled - 1st-time owner with questions regarding overall setup and diet

Our Septiceye is sweet as can be . He will go to anyone , he think every ones his and an Extension of one of his trees . He will sit out with us when we have coffee have is bugs and sun him self has to check out whats in our cups . He's just so sweet .

Frances is just sassy , She's very bosy !!. We can hold her but she has to come out of her condo . She will except a ride to one of her favorite spot . If she does not come out then we are tough out of luck . NO ONE IS EVER aloud in her condo EVER . That's her rules .

Which one is in your profile pic? And what does the other look like? That is hilarious that Frances is so bossy. I think it's great that they have their unique personalities, just like kids...lol. Vertigo is pretty friendly but if she wants to go back in the cage she just climbs around incessantly...we get the hint!

My experience was that . Frances would come out to take a break and eat something have a drink and go back down , she never stopped eating . I don't think that is the case for all females . I do know @opheliaeatsbugs experience was just like ours .
Ophelia took a month to finally lay. During that month, she continued to eat, drink, poop, etc. as normal. I took her out several times to get some real sun. She went to the vet twice. Her lights and mist system were on a timer, and they ran as normal. She dug many test holes, fussing around all day but they were never filled in or covered. So when the holes were covered, I knew she had layed them.

I used a sheet a king size Hot glued magnets . Use chip clip in the front .
I also used a sheet. I used heavy-duty tacks to attach it to the wall/ceiling around her.

Haha yeah Frances is very very bossy , she's Grumpy to often . She is very scheduled so if we don't get her food right on time it's stink eye and ignoring . Nothing can be in her Queenie area Aka Basking .

Sec pic is Septiceye he's our youngest one . He's a nosy be . He's sweet completely opposite of Frances . He's one of @Matt Vanilla Gorilla babies .

First is Frances eating her Hibiscus . Bossing my phone around !!.

Our other 3 are of different scaly babies . 2 beardies and a leopard gecko .

I got the new light and it's not quite warm enough. It's UVB and plant lighting but it only gets into the 70s. The basking light I have puts temp into 90s, even when mounted 5 inches above hte ca
It was a month between the start of digging and Ophelia finally laying. A very long month for me!

omg, that is forever...I would be a wreck!

I was in midst of writing about basking light question and it attached to another post that I was responding to, so here it is in full...

I got the new light (http://www.drsfostersmith.com/produ...MIxv2W_eDn1QIVWJ7ACh0AagCPEAQYAiABEgJX9fD_BwE) and it's not quite warm enough. It's UVB and plant lighting but it only gets into the upper 70s. I am going to give it another day to see if the temp increases since I was only at my nieces for an hour watching the temp with the new fixture.
The basking light that I was previously using (Exo Terra Sun Glo 120v 60hz) puts temp into 90s, even when mounted 5 inches above the cage, so I am not sure how to achieve the optimal 80-82 degree temp range for basking.
Is was hoping to just have one horizontal fixture to cover all lighting needs, but looks like that didn’t work out. Now that I spent the money on this one, I have to figure out another way to increase the temp a tiny bit. Anyone know of horizontal light that just gives off a tiny bit of heat? Or should I just replace the old basking lamp type light with some other kind of bulb and, if so, what type?

Thank you . You can try adding a low wattage household bulb .

I was reading this article (https://www.bulbamerica.com/pages/wattage-voltage) and the writer said, "For example 120V and 130V bulbs are interchangeable and the pros in using a 130 Volt bulb are: cooler burning bulb, less energy use, longer life and better handling of voltage surges. The cons are lower lumens output (not as bright) and lower color temperature." Thus she is stating that the higher voltage bulb is cooler. So I want a higher voltage but lower wattage bulb? I am clueless with regard to light bulbs, so not sure of the voltage/wattage combo to try next.

Could I keep current light and just plug it into a lamp cord dimmer? Or does the cham need the same amount of light to bask in, but just with less heat (thus requiring new bulb of some kind)?

You will probably need to add a 40 see if that will get you a basking in the low 80s .

I got a 40 watt bulb since these were advertised as household bulb, but it didn't heat up very much and turns out this was because it was an "energy efficient" 40 watt bulb. I went back to store and the rep told me to get halogen bulb since they emit the most heat, so I got a 40 watt and a 60 watt so that I can see which one works best. Thanks so much for your help!

Thanks so much to everyone for your help. For as long as Vertigo lives, you all get credit for extending her life due to helping me provide the best possible care :) I am so grateful.

I said the EXACT same thing when I was in shock and trying to make sense of everything lol People here are amazeballs!

60 will probably be to hot but try it . I would think either 25 or 40 .
