New Female Veiled - 1st-time owner with questions regarding overall setup and diet

Lots of keeper put like a WebCam set up so they can see all the time . You could put a baby monitor that has a visual . I cut a little hole where she could not see me looking in . I was very nervous . She took a very long time months to start digging them days almost a week of digging before she laid .

To be clear, once she started digging, she dug for a week prior to egg laying? That is soooo long!

Yes she did , she dug up every pot in her encluser . She has several small and big along with her lay bin . She dug all the way to the bottom . It was over 14 inches deep . They were on the very bottom on the actual ceramic .

Was it uncovered so that you could leave lights turned on on the top of the cage during this time?

How do you know when they are done laying eggs. It sounds like they sometimes come out to sit on branch and then return to digging later, so how will I know once the laying is complete?

You might want to invest in a misting system . You can still hand mist mist of the time . We do both hand mist and use misting system .
Which misting system do you use again? The difficulty is that most are so huge and we don't have a lot of room on the table where her cage sits, and there is only one outlet close by. There is also very little room on the floor.

My experience was that . Frances would come out to take a break and eat something have a drink and go back down , she never stopped eating . I don't think that is the case for all females . I do know @opheliaeatsbugs experience was just like ours .

Omg, this is all so complicated. Please pray for me that she does not lay eggs next week when I am out of town. Vertigo has glass cage so I would have to figure out how to cover sides and leave top open...

Thats right !!. Start a weight on her . When she starts adding some weight it's a good indication . My girl was around 123 grams , she started at 58grams . She double her size . Frances laid 33 eggs .

Well, she is growing so much. Over the last few months she has nearly doubled in size. Therefore, it's difficult to know if the weight gain is just additional growth or pregnancy.
