Hello all,
I've been really intrigued by chameleons for a while now and am finally deciding to get a pair (male and female). I've been reading here and there and have even bought supplies to make my own cage. As far as experience, I only have a red eared slider turtle, which I am aware is way different. I also have experience in mycology, which involves knowledge of microbioligy , controling temps, humidity, and some lighting.
I'm hoping to get a Jackson's chameleon even though I've read they're more delicate. I just like the horns on them, plus I've read they have a longer life span.
Before ordering my chameleons, I want to have my set up complete with a fogger, basking light, etc.
Any help or information would be appreciated. I already ordered the fogger and some trrrerium decor.
Should I go with another chameleon, since these will be my first?
Also, what lighting would you guys recomend for a Jackson's? Where can i find information on lighting? Do I need a day and a night light?

Thank you! I just read the whole sheet and was able to answer my own questions. I'm a little sad I won't be able to have a male and a female In the same cage, I guess I'll have to make two cages!

Yes, that's pretty much a given. Now you could build a very large cage frame and plan a visual divider down the center. That way you could share lighting, misting system, fogger, or whatever, and the space requirements would be a little less than 2 independent cages on separate stands.
