Hey everyone. I'm Jordan and live in kelowna bc Canada. Bought my first panther cham just yesterday after first building him a big ol enclosure. Just wanted to say hi. His name is Hugo. He has a little bump on his back which I'm told is nothing that will affect his health. That's why I nabbed him Hugo after Victor hugo who wrote the hunch back of Notre dam. I think he's about 4 months old. Just working some more in his enclosure today... looking for Mir plants and making a feeder.

Hi clockworkboy,
Welcome to the forums. I would take Hugo to the vet and get him checked out also just to be sure. Also you need to fill out your cage more/ plants/trees give him plenty of hiding spaces. He also needs several vertical branches and vines, one about 6-8 inches below your heat lamp so he can bask properly
Good luck
Dave

Thanks Dave. Was plant shopping today... picked up some more vines and some cool wood to walk on. Plants are just coming into season here so it'll be 2 palms and some fake flowers for now. I'm modding the cage tomorrow. Will post updates. I'm gonna let him settle for a bit before i take him to the vet.... if we even have one around that knows reptiles. He's eating great...6 large criks, a horned worm and 2 supers today. He holds his food in his mouth for a few minutes before he chews it. Is that normal?

That might mean that the food is a bit too large. I had this issue with dubia roaches and my female veiled. I realized she was waiting for them to die in her mouth so she would have less trouble chewing them, since they were to big to die on the first chomp. The crickets should be as long as your chameleon's head is wide. What feeder is she having the most trouble with?

Criks . Seems like the larger ones. Pet store had been feeding him large. He isn't choking on them or anything. Till I order online I can only get large or small here. I figured the same thing was happening. He seems good with them other than the little death bite lol

Here it is till more plants are available in my area
Is this his enclosure? You will need some more foliage other than palms. Pothos fill the cage out nicely and are very easy to find and take care of. I can find them in any home improvement store year-round.
Hopefully you can get your hands on some smaller feeders. I think it is better for the feeders to be a bit too small rather than too large. When they are too large you run the risk of impaction and the insect staying alive during digestion. With smaller feeders, you can just feed your chameleon more of them and they will have a much lower risk of digestion issue. Imho
Good luck! :)
