Waitin for my new chameleon in a few days as title says and would like to know the best tips from all of you! i made a wooden cage with a metal grid. bought a 5. uv bulb and a 100w for heat. my cage is like h= 90,l= 65, w= 50
Have put a small pothos inside which is growin fast as i can see and searchin for some more wood to add. do i really need to buy a mist/fog thing ? cause they are pretty expensive :/ what teperatures and humidity should i have for a veiled cham? iwant everythin to be perfect for my new friend :)
Thanks in advice!

No matter what you get to mist, you need to mist the enclosure at least 3 times a day. They only drink from the droplets that are on leaves.

Yeah read that and for sure i am gonna mist him but what about humidity, atm i have the censor in the middle of the cage and its around 50%, it is really low ? sometimes it goes lower with the heat lamp on! also should i have the lamps outside the cage?

a 40/60 normal one ? what i use for my room ? cause atm this one is a red big one. normaly temperature doesnt drop lower than 22 degrees inside house and now at summer it will be alot more without anything on! i live in Greece :D

Do not keep bulbs inside the cage. He can climb up to it and get burned, and/or die. They don't know when they are getting burned and will just sit there.

then ill have to remove the top of the cage and put there some more metal grid and over it the bulbs. thnx alot for the info!! any more tips you use or know would be really helpful!!

Were are you located? You probably do not need to even have a humidifier on the enclosure if you mist and have plats. But if you do need one you do not have to buy a pet one... you can just gat a cool mist ultrasonic humidifier for about $30 at Target.

If possible can you post a picture of your set up and describe what we see in the photo that might help us to assist you better.

atm i am not writin from home so i cant upload a photo of it . but tomorrow i ll get 1-2 photos up. i live in North Greece, Thessaloniki. what should be my 2nd plant inside the cage? as i said i have 1 pothos

wooden viv

hello mate ,both my heat bulb & uvb bulbs r inside my wooden viv, i have bulb cages around them so my veilled cant get burned, with regular misting and the right temps your humidity will go up, but you dont need to get your humidity to high. im also using a 100 watt spotlight bulb but mine is set to 85-90f on a thermostat control.good amount ov live plants, water & heat will sort out your humidity. the guys on here really r good for the advice ,they helped me loads.

temperatures and humidity i should aim for ?
and in what distance from the base or the top of the cage i should have my censors? guys you are more than Great!

I personally like the Umbrella plant. I'm not sure what they carry in your area, but here is a site the offers a list of what plants area safe http://www.flchams.com/safe_plant_list.asp
just make sure the plant is washed and that you if possible put organic soil and top it with river rocks.

besides misting you can use a dripper. I dont know if they sell them in Greece, but you can make one yourself if not by taking a cup a poking a hole in it and setting it on the top of the cage if you are going to go the screen route on the top. Misting is not the only way to hydrate but misting is also for the purpose for raising the humdity. By the way, welcome to the forums and future chameleon owndership!!!

thanks alot again! i am about to make a dripper myself and put it on the top over the plants as i saw to other users.atm all sides are open to air is it ok ? i mean maybe 1-2 sides should be closed or it is ok ?
i am tryin to have everythin very good prepared for him! :D gonna be a male veiled cham :)

All sides open is fine, covering one or two sides can help you keep humidity up. Either is workable depending mostly on your temps.
