New veiled question

Remove the substrate this can cause your chameleon to become impacted if ingested. Not worth the trip to the vet.
Your misting sessions need to be more like 3 mins ever 4 hours or so at lease 3 times a day for 3 mins at a time 12 seconds is not nearly long enough they need to be stimulated into drinking.
Look into getting a screen enclosure with glass your more likely to cause a RI (respritoy infection) witch will in turn cause problems all around in health, with a glass enclosure the air circulation is important therefore a screen enclosure is preferable.
Like @CamrynTheCham22 get the linner uvb bulb and make sure your heat bulb is a white light no coils or colors for bulbs. Live plants are great and dusting your feeders is important lightly dust with d3 and vitamins 2 times a month not on the same day and lightly dust with no d3 every or every other feeding. Gutloading your feeders is also important with things like kale, orangers, ect.
You want to have more foliage at the top of the enclosure rather than at the bottom here is a attachment of my set up for reference.
Congratulations on your little lady!
Glass TERRARIUMS shouldn't cause URI's if they are done right, if your chameleon gets a URI in a glass TERRARIUM, NOT AQUARIUM, there is something else most likely wrong.
You all have been a great help for sure. It is a lot on information and the lady at the pet store was fairly informed, but not neat the level that you guys are. I love to look through everything here to get more, and better, ideas about how to keep her going as long as possible.

We've already been talking about getting (or making) a bigger enclosure. I've actually been looking online this morning (instead of adulting and working lol) to see what options we have and what will be the cheaper option. Would it be feasible to do 2 sides of the cage as a solid material and 2 sides open? I'm just concerned about misting and it constantly getting on walls or whatever since we keep her inside.

This morning the humidity was pretty high, but it was also cooler in our house than normal due to yuck weather over night. As soon as I opened the doors to put some crickets in and hand mist the leaves, the humidity level dropped almost 10 degrees so that was nice.

We will also be stopping back by a pet store tonight to get calcium without D3 and some bendy vines for the basking spot. (yay for rearranging the cage!)

**random after thought here, and possibly be a stupid question, but how does water/misting stay inside an open air cage??**
It depends on the sides. DragonStrand makes great enclosures, I would look at their enclosures.

Hi gang! Just wanted to update. We returned the glass enclosure due to such high humidity levels over night and built her a screened enclosure. Very basic, but it does the trick. Basking zone stays around 80 degrees (need to get a higher watt bulb to get a little warmer). We also added two umbrella trees, 2 pothos plants, and something else that I forget the name of, but it's on the safe list. Gir seems to be loving it!

I used to use substrate because my guy looked miserable whenever I had to use a paper towel. I bought some green waterproof sheets for the bottom and he can't tell the difference. It is MUCH easir to clean.
As far as handling: each cham is different. Gary, my veiled gets real jealous and always wants to be out and climb up to my head to let me know who's boss.

I handle him every other day, and I believe he's sweet because he's used to us. Keep them in the room you're most in, too.

I use Repashy calcium, I found it at Petsmart. You can also check out repticon.com for some deals at reptile shows. Sometimes they have stuff you can't find anywhere. Sometimes it is WAY overpriced, sometimes it is a great deal.

Her home looks awsome keep up with your supplement schedule and she will be one happy lady!! Great job! :)(y)
Did you look into getting a linner UVB light by chance?

I'm not 100% sure but the umbrella looks like it may be the toxic kind? I can barely see them tho so I may be totally wrong

We sure did. Just haven't had the extra $$ to get a whole new fixture and bulb. That should be taken care of in the next few weeks. We also have some sticks to clean up and put in there for her.

Sheflara arbolicola is the safe umbrella tree from my understanding I believe the other type is not on the safe plant list.

Not on the safe list (looks to be the one you have) but I have been wrong before.

I think they will. Don't stress on it just make changes as you can and she will be fine. I sat in the home improvement store for way too long checking the safe plant list and then going and checking what seemed like all the plants haha! But your enclosure loos awsome and I'm glad your little lady is happy!

Me and my boys did that too while my husband was building the enclosure lol. She's not on them that much. She seems to prefer the fake leaves across the top, which I want to get a few more vines for until the pothos plants take off. The picture doesn't do justice either as the cage is actually twice that size, but we have it blocked off half way down while she's still tiny. Next step is also to get a lay bin in there somewhere. o_O

Just an update. She's gone thru her second molting since we got her a little over a month ago. She's got quite the personality developing and seems to have bonded with me more an anyone else in the house. Maybe it's because I feed her more lol
