New Vieled owner, Question on intake?

I have a Female I believe to be about 1/2 yr old. I have plans for breading in the future. I feed her around 5 crickets a day,med - large. Of coarse I keep crickets seperate and fee them things like fruits. I just wonder If I should be feeding her more. Everytime I set a cricket in the cage, she literally runs to eat it.. I wonder if I should use some type of heavier insect. Her body is about 5inc long not including tail. She seems healthy.

Here she is again in her habitat, I have had her for almost 2 months. She seems to be growing fast. She shed once already.

up to 6 months she shoukd eat 12-15 a day and 6-8 until about a year then youll want to control her intake to reduce the clutch size, 6-8 every other day

Your feeding is pretty similar to mine. I feed my six month old female veiled 6 crickets a day and usually a few small waxworms dusted with calcium. Beautiful chameleon, by the way.

Welcome to the forums. She's a little cutie pie! At 6 months I would recommend feeding her 6 to 8 feeders depending on size every other day. The little girls are always starving. I've linked a couple of my blogs for you below. One for general care and the second for egg laying and the laying bin.

When do I have to start thinking about the clutch? Is she old enough? Thx for the complement.. Everyone is making me feel good about my new pet here!!

On that, I'm really not sure. I think they become fertile at about five months, but I dunno when they start cycling infertile eggs. Of course, there is a certain way you can raise them that surpresses egg cycles. Think it has something to do with lowering temperatures and feeding her less. My chameleon is very pregnant at six or so months old, but I think her clutch might actually be fertile. She was kept in very poor conditions, with about six other chameleons.
