I've been told many times on this forum that a chameleon's job is to make sure we are worried about them 24/7, and I'm starting to see why.

My uncle had to leave town for about a month to get cancer treatment, and left his two kids under our care. These boys are very young, obnoxious, and happen to love animals.

I've had my cham since May 30th at six months old. He recently began to display some more of that chameleon tude that I keep hearing about. The problem is that I feel like he really doesn't like when people are near him, he seems very scared of humans. He won't even eat when someone is in the room. For this reason, I barely ever approach his cage and when I do I move very slow and it's only to feed him and empty his bottom tray. The problem is that the kids are staying in the guest room (where the chameleon is) and I can't supervise them every second of the day to make sure they are not stressing him out.

I haven't seen him eat in two days and I'm starting to get worried. I could leave him there, let him be, and hope the kids excitement with the chameleon fades away. I could also move his whole cage to my room for the time being. I just know they don't really love to be moved around too much and a new room would basically mean changing up his whole surroundings. Advice please :(

IMO I would move his cage for the time being, you know how kids are LOL could be very sneaky and be messing with your cham the entire time and then they tell you they weren't lol, I would move them if I were in your situation, they could be playing and maybe knock or shake his cage in some way anything could happen.

Thanks guys just moved him to my room. He’s just been hiding a lot and not eating. It’s just very frustrating because I was finally starting to make some progress with him and the whole trust thing :(

He only ate one superworm today...

He had crickets literally walk all over him today and a bunch of worms squirming around as well and he didn’t touch any of it.

How long should he go without eating before I start getting seriously concerned?

The move/changes/ mistress can take a toll. Give him a day or two even...make sure he stays regularly hydrated...let him be as much as humanly possible...it’ll all be good...

Okay thank you so much. I'm doing my best to keep the kids away from him for the time being. Hopefully the chameleon gets old soon since all he does is hide when they approach the cage. Ain't really a lot to look at! :ROFLMAO:

I'll keep you guys posted :)
