Optimal Temp/Humidity Settings

Hello everyone...I have a 4 month old panther who currently resides in a 24x12x24 screen enclosure. What would be considered the optimal basking temp and humidity levels for his setup? Thanks in advance...

Thanks Ray...yes this is my first, I've had him over a month now, my readings are consistent with what you state, however I've been reading lately that some advocate basking temp between 90-95 at his age, hence my question...do the temp requirements change at all as the panther matures?

At his age, 90-95 is way too hot. Ray was correct about the temperatures. You could go up to 90 once he gets a bit older (10 to 12 months). They do tolerate higher temperatures better when they get older. But you need to be sure that you have a larger screen enclosure where you can have suitable ambient temperatures for him as well. The gradient should be, ideally, high 80's to 90 in the basking spot down to the mid seventies in the middle and lower parts of the enclosure so that he can escape the high temperatures when he feels too warm. Regulation of body temperature is key, and only a good gradient will allow for that.

Sorry i didn't get back to you sooner drew.. but katt is right.. once he matures and you get him in at least a 2x2x4 enclosure you could have the basking site at around 90-95,, temperature gradient is key though, like she said..
