panther breeding

I don't know about anyone else, but I sure feel like a nice sandwich.

lol, a kingsnake sandwich!

to the OP, chameleon breeding is not to be taken lightly and depending on the clutch size you can be spending up to 1000 + dollars just on feeding and lighting. Not to mention it doesnt involve just throwing a female in with the male, having her lay a few eggs, and your done.

i think you all just make it too complicated when its not...im pretty sure it will be fine...ambilobe and ambanja.....nice mix i think.

Ok, so what are you planning to do with all the mixed breed females? There isn't much demand for mixed panthers much less for mixed females. Breeding is not something you do on a whim because it doesn't seem complicated. You asked for advice, it has been given. I'm sorry if it was not exactly what you were looking for or hoping to recieve. Good luck.

Jmo,
But whos gonna buy the cross bred females you produce if your lucky and have no complications? If you have an ambilobe male just find a nice female w blue in her sires bloodline. I know the fun factor is thrilling but i wouldnt want a cross female, and you prob couldnt sell them for much if you found buyers. Its your $$ and time but coming from someone whos done it. Its expensive, nerve wracking and a second job at times. I wouldnt want to work for a year on a clutch and then have to wholesale off half of em. You arent a large scale breeder you arent going to get their prices esp on crosses.

I bread kingsnakes and that's king of hard considering hibernation and all.. So I just want to know if it's easier than breading snakes... That's all just to get a perspective of the whole idea ... I think you can say that I have some responsibility and I'm in my 4th year of university... So I definately have some discipline in my blood for sure ...

If you were in your fourth year, you would know it's 'breed' and not 'bread'. I'm just saying ......

I'll buy the eggs off you if you're willing to make a deal

you just gave me the best advice and i will take it.. you are the only one to really explain it quickly but effectively. thanks.

i am taking your advice. :)

eggs for what the kingsnakes??

well if thats what you want there are probably going to be around 10 eggs.

name your price because i think shes gonna lay in about a week.

No prob my friend. If you do breed. I will just say this it was the hardest day of my life when i sold my first clutch of ambanjas at houstons reptile show. I gave care sheets, my number, local vet info... You work so hard and they really are like your kids. Ive bred english bulldogs which are a pita and chams make them seem like a piece of cake.

Hes a beautiful blue bar. Take your time trust me. Find a good sire and get a female ambilobe. You will still be suprised and thrilled by the colors they can throw in a single clutch.

What offer I didn't offer anything ... I'm kind of confused right now.. Fill me in please

Well lets see.
In January, the 10th to be specific, you made some "gaping for air" thread ...
This thread IF YOU CLICK ME I GO TO OTHER THREADS <-- Click that since you couldn't figure it out last time.

So there was your offer which you threw out.

Second, I'm semi-glad that you decided to breed purely. However you're still clueless on your Male's bloodline, you'll be clueless about any Female's bloodline you'll get. You probably shouldn't breed in these circumstances. And while I know people would still buy from you, I would hope people would ask you questions about lineage that you couldn't answer then not buy from you.

The saddest thing here is that I expect in a year we'll see a post of "My baby chams are too expensive, someone take them all. 20$ HURRY"

Chamster,
You misread my post you can use your male. The sire i am referring to is the females sire you are wanting to buy. Look at her parents, specifically her daddy to get an idea what her offspring can look like. Its like breeding dogs in that you can get a general idea what offspring should be like by looking at breeders sires. Ex: You have a blue bar ambi. Do want to try and breed more blue bars then find a female with a daddy that was a blue bar like your male. They can and will throw diff color patterns even with careful selection. So its always thrlling to see how babies color up and how their barring will turn out.

but i still want to do what you said and i find a BB female with a good colored dad...

Oh and if you breed. You wont be selling any chams for 20.00 even if they were crosses theyd be worth more than that wholesaling a whole clutch. So you can just ignore that. If you decide to do a breeding project be preprd for a lot of researching and asking questions. Sleepless nights too if your female is gravid and wont lay. Also be prepared for guilt and heartbreak if you lose a female. Its the most awesome exp. and can also be very disapointing too. Even when you think youve done all things correctly we are dealing w/nature and things can and do go wrong. I wish you luck if you decide to go forward. Oh and get the credit card ready cuz youll need it. lol:D

People are trying to point you in the right direction. Are you posting on a phone? Your bad capitalization and short sentences make me think you are on a phone or are just too used to texting.
First find a good, healthy, unrelated chameleon-female should be very close to or over a year old. Then you research gravid females, gestation, egg laying, and incubating.
Then-SAVE YOUR MONEY. I promise you that you will not make money your first go round. Eggs incubate for 6-9 months or so-so start saving. Research all of the supplies, research cheap feeders, research what can and will go wrong. Make sure you have TONS of time to deal with babies and that you do no plan any vacations or time away for a few months.

Yes I am texting from a phone. No I'm not going on vacation before at least a year. Damn, I don't like credit cards. One thing for sure is I will do all the research I can get. I just want to breed them for the experience and then give them away or something idk. Well see when the time comes it's too early to decide now.. Thanks again for the info.
