Poop looks dehydrated??

I’ve had my veiled chameleon for almost a month. When I first got him his poops was extremely healthy. His urate still is always bright white. But recently I’ve noticed that his actual poop look dried out. It’s not old because I already spot clean and get it out before he eats just to maintain the cleanliness of the cage. If anyone has any idea what’s going on I’d appreciate it. Here are some pictures of him and his poop. He is about to shed so that’s what on his nose.

Looks fine to me and the urate is perfect... :)
Okay I wanted to make sure because his poop was really plump and soft like pretty wet when I got him and up until like a couple days ago. Do you know why it changed to suddenly?

How has his diet been? Have you introduced or taken out feeders?

He’s only eaten crickets and the occasional super worm (not often or a lot) always gut loaded the night before. I haven’t changed anything since getting him.

His poop use to look like this which I read was a normal healthy poop.

I am guessing you have not found the poop thread yet lol. So the poops will vary. When you switch up feeders. If he is more hydrated the fecal will be a bit more moist. If you feed horns it can make the fecal loose. All normal... It is when you see mucous in the fecal that it is not normal.

So everything I’m doing is okay? Should I spray his cage a little more to up the hydration at all?

I had a recent concern similar to yours, and decided my chams poops were probably dry and shriveled due to higher chitin amounts in his diet. I ordered a ridiculous amount of crickets (1,000) thinking I was saving myself time in the long run but they just grew really big and once they hit full adulthood they have harder exoskeletons with more chitin. I actually saw some of the exoskeleton pieces in my chams poop. Like Beman mentioned it's normal for poos to change based on what they eat (same as us, lol) so stay observant.

If the urates are white and your cham doesn't show other signs of hydration you probably don't need to mist more. But overall humidity needs to be taken into account there too.

Here's more on hydration in case you haven't found this resource yet:

Oh okay that makes sense. I do have a fogger and a dripper to help but I still spray at least 6 times a day to keep the humidity at around 50-60 since he’s a veiled chameleon. I live in Vegas so it’s super dry so I almost over spray just to be safe. Of course not to the point where it’s irritating him or effecting him negatively.

I live in Orlando so I have the opposite problem! I had to buy a little computer fan to put on top of the cage to pull out stagnant air and help reduce humidity. It's all about researching, experimenting, and adjusting. Keep going! And if you haven't done a full husbandry review you can do a new thread on that and get feedback on everything you're doing.

Looks perfectly normal hun... If there are parasites those could not be seen with the naked eye you would have to get a fecal done. But the fecal and urate look normal. As far as misting. I do not know what your schedule is to comment on that. But I see no reason to be concerned about his hydration when the urate is white. :)
