Repti-glo 5.0

There isn't a huge issue with ReptiGlo lamps vs. ReptiSun...... It's mostly that the ReptiSun provides usable UVB longer than the ReptiGlo. You just need to keep up on the replacement frequency, or use a UVB meter and monitor UVB output.

Yes this is the correct information.

I'm really getting tired of reading people saying you "NEED MUST HAVE GO GET" a repti-sun because it typically lasts a month longer.

In general I find that it's cheaper to just use reptiglo. I change out my reptisun bulbs every 7 months or so anyways and sometimes I can find 5.0 reptiglo bulbs for $10. Why pay an extra $3-4 for a month? It guess it just depends on the deal I get. If I can get 3-4 reptisun 5.0 bulbs for $40-45 I will get them.

I used reptiglo 5.0 LINEAR tubes with no problems at all.
When I first got pedro I used a reptiglo COMPACT BULB 5.0 and it messed up his eyes,
after I changed it to the reptiglo 5.0 LINEAR tube his eyes were just fine.

The spectra of the Reptisun is better than a ReptiGlo...

OK... I am brain farting on the name of the process.... but there was a lecture I sat through about the UVB lamps and I remember hearing that the zoo med 5.0 had more ability to convert calcium to vit. D3. It has to do with the spectra, it has more 'good stuff' and so an animal sitting under a zoo med 5.0 would be able to convert more calcium into vit D3 than it would under a 10.0 or under the reptiglo lamps. I just looked through the UV Guide site and didn't see the data, so I must be thinking of Dr. Baines power point lecture that was presented to us at a SBCK meeting. I will check in with her to make sure I am remembering this correctly .
