Rudis maybe????

Dang Ralph, you really are the old chameleon keeper!!

Yep. Could you get that thru this boy's head that maybe I could show him how to make his own crap since he's tight on money. Just like it was when you and I crawled out of the ocean to walk on land and there were no sources of tried and true tricks to keep these animals alive. This boy's 13 and I have reptiles older than him currently that know more about the hobby than he thinks he does.

I was just letting my Parson read some of this thread (yes I've taught Atlas how to read) and even that animal just shook his head and walked away on his branch. It's good to see the boy can spell the word Rude. Question is can he apply it to himself?

Many have offered to help. Many have tried to comment. Nicky you've blown off everybody who doesn't say what you want to hear.

When you are ready to put aside your pride and actually learn, send me a PM. Otherwise good luck and I'll see you in the health clinic section later. :D

" Just like it was when you and I crawled out of the ocean to walk on land"

Lol!!!! Can I just say that you're officially my favourite?!

....."make my own crap"? I will be making a new cage as I have told atleast twice. I planned to make an extension, but hey why not a brand new cage....shouldn't take much longer....there is still the whole thing that glass cages are good too debate. Well, we'll see. If he doesn't seem perfect I'll tell you guys. I might as well have the new cage ready if he isn't doing well in the terrarium. I'm just ignoring all the annoying people at this point....anyone have any more things I should know?
Like, where to find flightless fruit flies? Or what else 2" chameleon babies can eat? Anything would help, and I think I will experiment on the glass/mesh debate. As little to none of you have kept Rudis, I'll be asking someone who has.

I've merged all the new threads you've made on this topic in the last week. Please respect the forum rules and do not start another thread on the same topic. It clutters the forum, makes it difficult for people to follow the conversation who are trying to help you, and makes people less likely to try to help when they know you're just going to start a new thread when the current one doesn't go your way. I know the other moderators and I would prefer not to have to start giving infractions or put anyone in time out.

Yep, I was in 8th grade (13/14 years old?) and my parents had told me that if I wanted a chameleon as a pet that I needed to research them to their satisfaction for 6 months before they would let me. And so began a 6 month period where I bought every book printed on them, contacted every keeper and breeder I could find (in the comparative infancy of the www and online communities), and worked hard to figure out what species, setup, etc., would be ideal for my first chameleon, not what was most convenient. I tried to learn as much as I could from the people who had the experience at the time and listen to them. I am still friends with a number of those people who helped all those years ago!

Chris

wow, just wow, lots of respect for you two.

There you go again. Blowing off the people that can HELP you. You are looking for the most inexpensive way to do this. OldChamKeeper was trying to assist you in making a proper cage as inepensively as possible. You're lack of respect and unwillingness to learn astounds me. You have a lot of maturing to do before owning a Cham. Plain and simple.

Information on raising babies is located in articles under the forum Resources tab which you should have already found at this point. Feeding a baby rudis won't be much different from feeding other cham babies especially as there aren't that many options. There are multiple sources for flightless fruit flies and other small feeder insects on the web...but, since no one can tell you anything I'll leave you to discover them on your own. This is what we mean by doing the homework.

Saw some Dubai at PETCO.

No you didn't. You saw some Blaptica dubia at PETCO.

Isn't the last supplement every other day or something?

Read the cham husbandry articles again...this is cham 101 stuff that you should know after all this discussion.

Thanks for proving my point of view. Since you are actually a teenager I don't mind calling you out for being thick headed. I could give you everything you need information wise to raise a Rudis and keep it alive for 5 years (barring bad luck) yet instead of being nice to the folks on this forum I value you came here already knowing things and expecting others to say what you want to hear. You are doing things backasswards. Why are you even posting at this point? You ask questions that have been answered, you clearly are NOT doing your homework on this subject by using the resources that people are telling you to use, instead you just want neat clean answers here on this topic that you agree with.

Considering you have ignored the fact that everybody has told you they see you are ignoring their information I doubt you will have much help when you do need the health clinic. I sure as hell won't bother typing anything up, you don't listen.

By the way Nicky, posts like this one are not annoying people you should ignore. Posts like this might help you sit back, open your eyes, and adjust the way you are coming off to people. If I had taken the approach you have back when I was your age I would have had zero people with experience help me out.

I noticed a while back you were wanting to know how to increase your ranking on the site. AS soon as I saw that I realized how immature you really are. You want it all now, you are not willing to put in any time to get that little thing that most of us here don't even pay attention to. Ranking on the site does not equal respect, but you already know that since you have not been respectful to those senior members trying to help you.

Experience cannot be replaced by sheer desire.

By the way, "make my own crap" is something I've done for decades to keep my animals alive. Still works too instead of buying expensive "crap" that is mass produced. You gotta learn the lingo to stay in this hobby. Look up the word "lingo" by the way since you didn't know what "skin off my nose meant".

As for Rudis? I used to breed them to make seed money for other projects back when I was 14. Stop being rude, thick headed, and stubborn and you might get taught something useful here.

This forum is wonderful and people here are way nice. I've been part of other communities/forums going back 15 years and in those forums this kid would have been banned ten times over already. I get that there's a potential Cham's health on the line but wow all the same.

Great people. Better than me. I would have dropped the hammer a while ago.

Another thing. There is no way in hell I'd let any 13 year old of mine go the internet without me watching him like he was going to steal something somehow but that's just me I guess.

Ive been a cham owner and member here for roughly a week, and have gotten a bunch of help. You dont go walking into the kings house and take a **** on his rug and THAN tell him how to clean it up...basically thats what you are doing here. Thank you, please, positive rep on ppl who have helped you...LISTENING AND TAKING SAID ADVICE will go a loooooong way, for here and in life. Youre 13, you might be shocked to know that you dont know everything. Nobody does, but theres people here who have socks older than you (mind you im just 29, but still) we were all once 13 and prob were cocksure...than life hit us in the face amd we woke up. Wake up and head some advice

Agreed. Nicky, I joined this site to further my knowledge and discuss these awesome animals. I just can't figure out why you joined up. Given that you know more than most everyone here (sarcasm). Obviously OldChamKeeper could have helped you out with most of your questions on Rudis. Had you approached him and other members in a tactful unselfish way that is. You should just use the forum search tool to find answers to your questions from now on. You have burnt too many bridges to elicit any helpful responses.

I've read every thread created by this immature child. He's been given the benefit of the doubt more times than he deserves. I see well respected members on here, of whom are usually calm and collective, turn their backs on the OP. Even after creating a thread apologizing about his attitude, it is clear as day he has not followed through on anything that was said.

I agree with Socialnumb and believe a temporary ban should be in order.

I take offense to this:

As little to none of you have kept Rudis, I'll be asking someone who has.

Many of us, including myself, have successfully worked with and bred the Trioceros sternfeldi. There is a wealth of information on this forum alone about the species. I usually try and set an example for the rest of the members here and I have tried to help you on numerous occasions by supplying you with the information I know and what has made me successful keeper of the montanes. I have mentored many newcomers to the hobby and some of them were your age; what differentiated these people is their willingness to listen to the people with experience and learn from it.

Honestly I’m not sure a chameleon is for you. They are finicky and delicate pets that require exacting care to keep healthy and thriving in captivity. I understand you like reptiles and there are some interesting snakes that are great for beginners and are fairly inexpensive as a start-up. Perhaps some of them might fit your current budget and lifestyle better.

Buy a Bearded Dragon bud, they are nearly bullet proof and a great entry level herp..

Mr. Anderson,

I first me you online in the old Chameleon Groups when you lived with your parents in the Czech Republic. Last time we spoke was just prior to your journey to college. Truly great to see you have kept the passion and done so much for this hobby.

I didn't mean to insult anyone, I just thought it was an odd choice of words. Also since I had no idea so many of you used to/still care for Rudis, I apologize on that. Also thank you ever so kindly for telling me 7 times I should be banned. I get it. Please stop telling me I should be banned.

Anyway, Mr Deaton says that he won't sell his babies until They're a month old, and seeing as that means I have to wait atleast a month, it seems that I'll have to put up with more people telling me I should be banned. Perhaps someone will actually help me. Who knows. Hopefully so, as some of you are experts.
