Scared of fogger and possibly not drinking

Hello, I just got a fogger for my new Veiled Cham I got about a week ago. I've been having a little problem. Whenever I start it up he runs away from it and retreats to the bottom of his cage (I've never seen him there since I got him). Is there anything I could do show him that it's okay? Also, I haven't seen him drink at all since I got him. When do they drink and how often? Am I maybe not seeing it?

Chameleon info:

My Chameleon: 2 month old male veiled chameleon. I got him a week ago.

Handling: none. Letting him get used to terrarium

Feeding: I have small crickets in a cricket keeper with apples to keep them hydrated and alive. Going to dusting them with calcium.

Supplements: see Feeding

Watering: Little Dripper on top of cage with spout dripping water onto fake leaves on side of cage. Fogger. Had to put a bucket under cage because water was getting on my dresser. I mist twice a day.

Fecal Description: Seems to be normal. Wet but probably because the bottom if the cage is wet.

History: none.

Cage info:

Cage type: medium (18x18x30 in.) reptibreeze terrarium.

Lighting: UVB dome lamp and 50 watt basking bulb

Humidity: 55-55%

Temperature: 80-86 degrees Fahrenheit

Plants: no live plants of any kind, all fake

Placement: top of cage is about 7 feet high on dresser

Location: Colorado

Current Problem: Possibly not drinking and scared of fogger

what type of calcium are you dusting with? you also need a multivitamin. I would add more foliage for the mist to go onto and he may like it better that way

oh and I have stark for almost 8 months and have only seen him drink 2 times. I am assuming he does it when im not there cause his urates are good. what are the color of his urates? yellow, white, tinge of yellow?

The white ish part of the poo. It can sometimes be yellow which indicates dehydration

Oh. It doesn't seem to be, no. Where would you be able to find plants that are live and non toxic? I looked at my local Home Depot and they were sprayed and I don't want him dying because his plants were toxic.

Thank you!

I got mine from walmart and home depot. I cleaned the leaves and changed the soil

I would get rid of the fogger and just mist three times a day for 3-4 minutes, create some good drainage in the bottom of the cage. Foggers are breeding grounds for bacteria and the only fogger like system that is need is an ultra sonic humidifier and usually only for montanes. You most likely won't see him drink unless he's dehydrated. Are you sure he'doesn't a boy?

Also I would raise the top basking branch up to about 7 inches or the uvb does not get to them as well and they are susceptible to metabolic bone disease

Thank you for the advice! I actually bought another branch that I raised closer to the top. He seems to be liking it. As for drinking, I have his little Dripper dripping onto the fake branches. I also took a little closer look at his urates and they were slightly yellow. Could the reason for his possible dehydration be due to his dropper dripping onto leaves instead of somewhere where he can actually lap up the water? If so, where else should I position it? (See pictures)

Thanks for the advice. I actually have to go to school very early in the morning so that makes it hard for me to mist him more than once or twice a day. I had been having humidity issues as well and the fogger really helped to raise it by about 20% and keep it consistent. It was at 30% and is now at a steady 50-55%. I didn't quite catch that last sentence. What did you mean?

I'm just guessing that they meant "Are you sure it's a boy" im not 100% and I'm just answering because they haven't responded yet. Nice Cham btw!

Yes that's what I meant lol, stupid auto correct. I would buy an automatic mister then. Some chameleons won't drink enough from drippers and foggers can't replace misting.

That's a great idea actually. Unfortunately, I'm pretty kinda broke after paying almost $300 for this guy and his supplies. The automatic misters are like $70 on Amazon. Any other ideas that would be cheaper?? If not that's fine I just want to make sure he's healthy and drinking. Would they drink out of a reptile water fountain? Check picture to see what I'm talking about (and yeah he's a boy, he has the Spurs on the back of his claws.)

I bought my mister for $108, that one your looking at is actually not a bad deal for what I've seen. I paid about $1,000 total just for the Cham and setup, food, etc that day.

Wow that's impressive. You really love these things , clearly I'm talking to the right person (btw if that's your Cham in your profile pic he/she's gorgeous). I guess what I was asking is, is there anything I can do with what I have right now?

Buy live plants from Home Depot, and wash them thoroughly. At least replace the top of the soil and cover it with stones and your cham won't be harmed. Have your Dripper, drip water onto the live plant so that the water collects in it's pot. Then the floor will be less wet. A wet floor will attract pets, and can grow bacteria.
