Seven Weeks With Claudia

It has now been seven weeks since I rescued Claudia from the hands of Petco. She has grown so much! I'm still new at this, but I have to say, I think she's in much better hands at home with me.

Wow. That is one heck of a difference 7 weeks later. She must be a great eater. I don't know your experience level so I will add this just incase. Based on your pic I would say she is big enough to start laying eggs. She does not a male to become gravid (pregnant). You will need to start looking into putting an egg laying bin in there. Because soon enough she will be carrying eggs and if she doesn't have a spot to dig she could become egg bound. Like I said maybe you already new this but just incase you didn't.
You have a beautiful girl. I'm glad you rescued her from that pet shop. Good luck!!!

She's looking a little full...does she have a laying bin? She may have eggs she needs to lay.

She does look pretty full there lol. Here's a picture I took a few minutes ago. Do you think she's still looking a little bloated? I did take that other picture this morning right after she ate, so I don't know if that would make a difference on how puffy she looks.

In any case, I do have a laying bin set up, but she hasn't shown interest from what I can tell. I will keep an eye out for signs, though.

Please don't laugh at my feeding cup. It was my first attempt at making one haha.

Reading wowbangos post made me look a little harder at her current pic then with the pic you just posted I think I'm going to have to agree with wowbango. She does look pretty chunky in her belly. I would def go ahead and put a laying bin in her cage right away.

Yes, I'd agree. When they look bulkier around their hips I'd get ready. Better safe than sorry. It may be a while before she shows signs she wants to dig, but no reason not to introduce her to a laying bin.

Makes perfect sense :) Like I said, I do have one in her cage but I don't see her down there and I don't see evidence of digging, but I'll be sure to stay on top of it. Thanks, all. This place is so helpful, I can't even express how grateful I am for it.

What's the best e-mail where I can send my invoice to? :D

I thought having a feeding cup wasn't a good idea-- i made one just like you-- especially when you dust their food all the white stuff goes all over the cage its better to have a feeding cup. Isn't it better to let the crickets loose so the Chameleon gets exercise; it's better to let them hunt their food rather than making it too easy to feed?? --

wow way better before and after-- I can't believe they do that at Petco. They said at petco said they always leave small meal worms in the cage 24/7 as their policy as well as giving them crickets. I can't believe how small some of the cages there are-- sometimes these chameleons stays there for weeks until someone buys it paying a high price.

I do both. I dust the feeders first in a bag and pour them into the cup or let them free in the cage so she can hunt them down. When I feed worms, I always let her hunt them.

Can't say I've ever had an issue with the dust getting everywhere, thankfully. I think she eats them too fast for them to have a chance to track dust all over lol.
