My female veiled has increasingly gotten more aggressive and now she hisses and tries to bite my hands when I try to transport her. Usually I trick her out of the cage with a juicy worm which works nicely but whenever she realizes shes not in her cage anymore she flips out and makes it difficult for me to give her check ups. I have a vet visit set up for the end of this week since she has some eye issues probably from a recent shed. I'm going to try washing her eye tomorrow with saline solution and I hope she wont get so stressed when I hold her.

I just don't understand, she used to be relatively calm besides being extremely timid. I thought that she would loosen up after a few months but she's just getting worse. And now that the weather is nice and shes big enough, I want to take her outside so she can benefit from the sunshine, but I just don't want her to get stressed out from being handled.

My male veiled is becoming the same. I trick him with two hands and when I have him on my hand..he hisses at my other if I lift it. He doesn't like it and hasn't. They change but still wish they would stop hissing and throwing themselves at your hand.

How old is she? It could just be those terrible teens...(5-12months).

maybe pregnant

this could not be the case but i read that she could be pregnant because they get very pretective but i hope she gets better

she is around 11 months. she acts very calm in her cage and isn't bothered by my presence anymore. she used to hide everytime i would just look at her!

shes never been bred but im suspicious that she has an infertile clutch in the works. I try to palpate her but she puffs up and makes it very difficult to feel anything without me squeezing too hard. ill know for sure when i take her to the vet on friday. it would be a good reason and hopefully if she is gravid she'll be nicer afterwards!

My male puffs up and hisses but soon calms down.
He loves to be hand fed too.
His sister hates contact as she has got older but will take locust by hand and dubia roaches.
she will watch everything I do and if I needed to move her I use a garden glove - 1 your feel nothing if it bites and 2 they can hold on better and 3 you won't jump if you get a bite and end up dropping it killing the Cham.
I play safe she them come before me and the garden gloves are cheap pound shop ones .

Ummm, I don't think it is a good idea to palpate a cham and it causes undo stress. All female chams should be provided a laying bin in their enclosure at all times.
