Apollo My Veiled chameleon has lost his appetite he has not eatin much in the last week 3 hornworm and 5 silkworms he is also at beginning of shed should I worry yet when shedding befor he ate no problem

I kinda thought that was the case but was not 100% my snakes do the same.... And wow is he really grumpy this time

How old is he, I can't remember Apollo's exact age. When they get around 1 year+ they start to lack in appetite and get grumpy around shedding times from my experience. I don't know why, other than most adults have a harder time shedding than juveniles and babies.

He is a year old I believe

Is there anything I can do to help him the humidity is at 75 in his enclosure at the moment it drops down to 50 in between misting witch is every 3 hours for 1 min

Then I would say it's pretty normal. He's still eating and the food is pretty nutritious considering what chameleons are known for getting hooked on lol. Do you have a gram scale? I would weigh him if you can.

Ya I have one I use for my snakes

Keep a regular record of his weight. He shouldn't lose too much weight during a shed. It shouldn't be more than at most 20 grams.

Let's see, I would say he normally weighs at least around 150 grams. How many times are offering the feeders he will regularly eat at the moment? Such as silkworms, super worms, hornworms, etc?

I offer them in the am he had a feeding cup but was not to happy with that he likes to hunt so I place hornworm as silkworm around his enclosure also a few crickets what he dose not eat I get our befor bed it has just been the last week he dose not seem to get excited about food he will eat off my hand no problem as well but not at the moment lol he want to eat my hand

Hmm I would try and accommodate any way I can. If he still seems uninterested in the next day or two, I would be looking at a vet visit for sure. It seems like he has lost more weight in my opinion than a usual shed causes. What do you think @Nursemaia?

Ok I would weigh him every day for the next two days and keep a record of his weights. Also pay really close attention to what he eats, if you need to write it down please do. Try all the feeders you have at your disposal. If you have anything that flies I would suggest trying it too. Even if it means sacrificing a moth. It may help break a hunger strike or show whether it is psychological or physical.
