His eyes aren’t particularly sunken and he’s colors are still bright. When chameleons are too far gone they look almost skeletal and deflated. He definitely has life left in him and is not beyond repair. I think giving up on him at this point would be cruel. Please consider updating your husbandry and he is likely to improve. Or please give him to the rescue previously suggested. His progression has worsen today. Not even drinking water drips. Very lethargic a probably wouldn't make it long enough for a vet or rescue. Must be insect or injury related. Either way is going to die. Smh
The eyes are sunken. An think the husbandry is fine. Just infection that's probably causing kidney failure. His eyes aren’t particularly sunken and he’s colors are still bright. But still, if he is hanging there he can be saved, it has happened and it is not that rare. I had a bad husbandry I worked on it, it still isn't perfect but if my girl was struggling I would give her to a rescue. I'll give a reference to my girl when she was unhealthy and where she's at now. The first picture is where she's at now, and That is the same chameleon that was fat, unhealthy, overfed, and had horrible husbandry. Like im sorry that this happened to your chameleon but you shouldn't let it suffer. He's barely hanging on to a branch and non-responsive?
Of course there's alot of misleading info. When fogging an misting to prevent a Shana an causing a rl. Not sure if stools can be posted on here. But have a photo of one he did few hours ago. An why this color change is currently happening.Hello @LoveGun78 - in reviewing the husbandry you shared the other day I wanted to put notice on the orange/red urates your sweet boy passed recently. It sounds to me like he may be dehydrated, this can also cause our chameleons to decline and have sunken eyes.
If I shared how to hydrate him would you be open to trying it?
I couldn't agree with you more. There is so much misinformation out there about chameleons. It makes this hobby hard some times to have to sift through what is up to date and accurate and what is not.Of course there's alot of misleading info. I have a syringe an would it be wise to give water now. He's just hanging upside down.I couldn't agree with you more. There is so much misinformation out there about chameleons. It makes this hobby hard some times to have to sift through what is up to date and accurate and what is not.
You are just fine, chameleon stools can be posted on here, thank you for sharing. It looks like your boy is dehydrated from his recent poop.
You can put some droplets of water on the top of his nose, when the water runs down it may simulate him drinking. Or do you have a syringe? I could walk you through how to give him water that way without aspecting him. Let me know what you are comfortable trying.
I am here to help! Please let me know what I can do to support and help where I can.
I have a small bin I could use. But don't think he'll live out the night. He's really in bad shape.Ok if he is upside down I would probably put him in a hospital bin so he doesn’t fall and hurt himself.
Do you have a box or plastic bin you can use? I'll attach some photos from other hospital bins on here that have been used in the past to give you an idea of what you can do for him.
Put a towel or something soft on the bottom and place him in there. Then lets try and give him some water.
If you would like to share photos of what you got for him, let me know and I can help you make any adjustments necessary for your boy
I understand. Let’s put him in a hospital bin at least. Once he is in the hospital bin are you open to giving him some water to drink?I have a small bin I could use. But don't think he'll live out the night. He's really in bad shape.
Sure I can do that. But think he's passed thoI understand. Let’s put him in a hospital bin at least. Once he is in the hospital bin are you open to giving him some water to drink?
Thanks for the advice. Just a question would this be a proper gut load?If you can, place him in a bin just the same, that way he won’t fall. Thank you for trying. He was a very beautiful boy.
What kind of bugs is it for? Thanks for the advice. Just a question would this be a proper gut load?
Banded crickets an original dubia. What kind of bugs is it for?
Thank you! It honestly sucks I raised him since 3 months old. Been doing very well until last week. Noticed stopped eating an thought maybe was shed. I noticed that was looming. I'm type to not get very close. But being human we make mistakes. An I did with this guy in some way. I cried alittle an still upset. Let the alcohol smother the sadness. Just really aggravated an pissed off atm. I feel like a failure an pos. An wanna give my other chameleons to someone better then myself. Op was right they deserve better an need do the right thing. And you are very welcome. I am sorry for your loss, it’s hard to lose a pet.
