Silkworm Breeding... Is it worth it?

I am currently breeding darkling beetles (aka, mealworms) but considering trying silkworms. Have any of of you had success with this and is it worth the effort vs purchasing and having them shipped? These are not available locally, so the reality of paying for outrageous shipping has me considering breeding them.

They are extremely easy to breed and very very cheap especially if you can find a mulberry tree.
