kermit is my friendliest cham. Kink my moodiest, Lily, she well.. has days where she loves me. and days where.. pretty sure she wants to kill me.
and i cant ever hold her on my arm without a long sleeve shirt on. her nails irritate my skin, leaves scratches and welts. but Kinks and kermtis nails dont.. go figure.

I'm sorry Mike but this post really made me laugh. Was the male really gentle like mine was?

Haha, this made me giggle. I think I heard him talking dirty to her. lol just kidding. He was very gentle, I think. There was no biting or anything like that. I have to admit though it was kinda funny to see. little gentle thrusts. :) He got those moves like Jagger:eek:

Fingers crossed for July 13th!

I think in general, hoes are very sensitive and gentle chams. Only time my guy has ever gotten mad is when kink my veiled stepped on his tail..

I like it. and Im am sooo excited for hoe babies! i want them so bad! i may just come and pick them up from you once birthed... I know thats bad.. hehe.

they'll be much too young to sex and they'll be very fragel :( i wuddnt risk it. i'll probally ship the babies to you when they're old enough and big enough. or better yet i'll drive them to you. either way i want to get them over the bump before stressing them out.

Ha ha you watched very carefully then. You dirty dirty ........ :D

I think that sounds sensible. The reason I ask is that my female hoe gave birth the first time to only 3 babies and as she did not have much weight gain after I bought her it was a total surprise when I found babies. She was gravid when I bought her unknown to me. The male remained in with her. She is gravid again and this time I will be prepared. I believe gestation is 5 months but does anyone know how early I could expect the babies?

My female rules the roost btw too.

Okay, I'm quoting my post as I think my last question got lost in the excitement lol. Anyone able to answer how early the babies could arrive. Is it 5 months almost exactly or could they arrive a lot earlier/later????

Females do tend to rule the roost. I do agree also that if multiples are kept in same cage to have a second of everything. I have also seen problems of an established male or female in a cage punking or basically showing who runs stuff around here. In this instance if you dont watch them closely you can end up with the submitting one wasting away in due time.

I also set my female up like a veiled but dont have the 30's night time temps. I do lose a few from each clutch at around 5 months and it is always the smallest of the group. I dont believe they need such high temps but they can tolerate them. My male will bask very little and be less active with higher basking temps. If i turn the basking light off or lower them to high 78-80..He will run around the cage like a olympian. The female on the other hand is not picky one bit. Very interesting though..I may put her and him in another room where the temps can drop low.

This is all similar to what i have experienced. My ambient temps are high 50's to low 70's in the winter so I like to give them at least a choice of one high 80's basking spot but they hardly ever use it. Also, I don't test the basking spot with my ir thermometer, I test the skin surface of the basking chameleon and I usually get between 83 and 84.5. As I would expect, with choices, they can figure it out. In the summer, they are outside 24/7 and this is when they can experience a few high 30's nights in june, and a few more in september - but mostly the night temp is between mid 40's to mid 60's.

I lost 3 of 10 at about the 5 month mark and they were the smallest for sure, but I don't feel I would have lost them if I had separated them sooner and/or been better at providing more quality basking sites. I feel that at least part of their demise was that they were being bullied away from basking and eating.

Although I have been curious to see interactions between multiples in the same cage, I agree that it is not best and I agree that they have psychological effects on each other that are meant to drive them apart and reduce densities. I had 1.1.10 together for about a week with no aggression or problems, but I agree that that is just asking for a bad surprise.

My experience have been 5 months give or take a week. But I seem to remember reading that a female overwintering in a British keeper's green house was subjected to an extended cold spell and yet produced healthy babies when the weather finally warmed up. I don't remember how much longer she carried her young, but I think it was 6 or 7 months total.
