Stray Feeders

Usually my husband, my daughter or I can handle a "capture" (and, the fact that my 15 year old will capture a cricket gives me so much hope for her...) if not, then Tango the mutant pug will find them and play with them until they aren't fun anymore....which means, we throw them outside on the off chance they survived his attentions.

Sticky traps - the type made to attract roaches - work great for crickets.
So do big free-ranged spiders and cats
and vacuumes

You have large deliberately free-ranged spiders??? Remind me to never come over to your house.

I'll take my birds any day. When they grab a larger feeder insect they bash it on a perch over and over to tenderize it and get rid of things like wing covers, legs, shells.
