The Best Hybrids! :)

I wonder if CF still has a stigma about "hybrids (crosses)?"

They are interesting as far as looks go, but not everyone appreciates the muddying of genetics.

theres a small group of people who dont like crosses.

However, WHIle i do agree that some lines should remain pure, to continue the genetic lines.

I do like crosses, as they can produce some very interesting coloring.
When you buy a banja, ambi, faly, etc.. you know more or less, what youll get color and pattern wise.

but you cross something... its a mystery cham!

I sort of like that,

I will second that camimom.

Yes, its not really the best thing in the wild, but if its done with care and respect, and everything is carefully documented, then i would say its fine. Just let people know the lines if they every buy from you. and document it!!

Absolutely! dont sell crosses as pures. and as long as you dont lie.. its all good.

I knwo some may hate us for saying that... its JMO.

I want to get one of olimpias crossses, as my pet panther. just cuz her azura and daedelus i think his name is, are gorgeous.

Another thing people like to mention is that you can't control what your buyer does with the chameleon once they purchase it. What do you do with females? Oh I'm selling a 50-50 cross. The females look like everything else. The buyer forgets if it's a cross or just doesn't care then sells off the offspring as whatever will bring them more money.... blah blah.

I'm going to stop now.

Someone post a picture?

I totally agree. Personally, i think as long as you are very respectful about the process, and you protect yourself and what your doing from the people trying to give it a bad rep, then you'll be fine.

its like all the people who try to give reptile owners a bad rep.

there will always be those who want to "naysay" and think it'll be a terrible idea, so the most you can do is act in the highest and most upheld, respectful ways that you can. there will always be some who are just close minded but oh well.

we can have a nice adult conversation about this i think. :)

I think thats always a risk when selling any animal. which is why people should do proper screening when seling any animal, pure or not.

i dont have any crosses.. but i mgiht at some point.

It's more then a small group.

I think it would be interesting to find out a simple yes/no poll of people who like or don't like hybrids. I'M ON IT

actually i have no idea what im doing

This topic has been debated many many times here on the Forums. Everyone is entitled to their opinions.
The original poster just wanted some pics of some crosses. So, let's see some pics.

I myself like crosses. It's like a breath of fresh air and mystery from the "normal" Locale colorway. But from a breeding standpoint , i would hatee to invest over a YEAR in a crossed females that was sold to me as pure.

This is why pure Locals of Panthers are going for soo much from reputable breeders these days. If i know spending that extra $100-$200 will guarantee me bloodline security, i'll do it

Ok, so I thought I would be the first one to post a pic!

I chose to get a cross as I wanted something a bit different!

He is coming upto five months old so has way more colour coming his way in the next few months, he is a Ankify X Ambilobe
