Is your vet a reptile vet? Does your vet have experience with chameleons? Some vets treat species that they really don't know a whole lot about what "normal" looks like.

Yeah I went to her because she was one of the only vets in my area that treated chams

I would go back and have a frank conversation with your vet. Ask what she thinks all the various swellings around his face are likely caused by. Ask her if maybe she might think something else is the problem and not a banged up eye. You can spend a fortune doing diagnostists, but it might not be worth it to you. The main thing is to not allow the animal to suffer.
