Thinking about getting pygmy's

I have an extra Exo-Terra Terrarium (24" x 18" x 24") that is just sitting here. I love pygmy's I think they're so adorable and some are actually affordable. :)

My question is, with a Terrarium of that size, how many of what sex (the same if possible, I don't really want tons of babies!)

I would not keep two males together in an enclosure that size.
I would think that footprint could accommodate 1.3 brevicaudatus comfortably.
If you make conditions right for them, they will breed.
If you don't want offspring you could keep females only, however, mostly WC available right now and you may very well end up with one or more that are gravid;)

How many eggs do they lay, just incase I do maybe (?) get a couple of little girls. Just incase they are gravid, a couple of extra's won't break the bank but a whole crap load might >.<

[Edit]: TOO MUCH THINKING!!!!!!!

I can't think this much! I'll make it into a really fancy hermit crab tank! :D

I don't have to worry about babies that way! Yay!

Thank you Brad :)

I agree with Brad. a friend of mine had pygmys and kept 2 males in the same cage (a 10 gallon i think) and I witnessed a larger male bash into a smaller male as the smaller was trying to climb a stick..

I really don't have time or a way to sell babies. And honestly after reading all of the emergencies with females laying eggs, now they scare me a little. lol

I like my little boy Veiled.

I'm really thinking about just putting my hermit's in that cage, they're climbers they'd like how high it is.

Does 1.3 equal 1-3? or literally 1.3 chameleons? :) If the latter... how do you get 1/3 of a chameleon?

I might get a pygmy, since Norman's old terrarium would be perfect for one.

pygmies are great and cute little guys. you should def. get some just make sure you read up on them i heard they can just die on you for no reason tho.

How frequently available are CB pygmies? Also, what kind of lighting is needed? I've heard contradictory reports on the need for UV.

Ive only seen CB pygmies for sale once, i think your best chances of getting some CB guys are finding someone who has a breeding group and ask for the next available clutch. If you plan on breeding tho you may need to look for your guys from multiple sources to get unrelated animals.

As far as UV lighting, i have read that it is not necessary, but it cant hurt, as long as your not throwing up a 10.0 lol. In my enclosure im using a 2.0 that has been on for about 2 months now and i am going to be receiving my guys next week :)

Or you can use a used 5.0. Pygmies are terrestrial animals so some sunlight will penetrate down to the floor of their natural habitat from the trees. But you are right about controversy, some people claim that it is not necessary and others say it is. I have not however, heard of any circumstance where UV lighting (tube lighting) has cause harm to a pygmy.
