Are you saying that you would not rush the shipment from Paul to me?

I was thinking that getting them isolated in their own cage with lots of hiding spots and a constant drip as soon as possible would be less stress?

I'll delay their vet visit for two weeks but I’ll still keep the appointment to have their poop tested.

Also note they will not have they flashy colors from day one because all the travel they will have their stress colors(brown)they will start color after they are settled in their new homes(after some days/weeks).
Also the use of medicens i would not do after they are acclimatised in their new homes(one to two weeks)

Personally yes they need some days of good drinking so liver and kidneys are in prime condition,medicens always have a level of toxicity and they handle this better when they are in prime condition(you have to observe your animals very well and when you have a good feeling you can cure(if they have something off course they not all have parasites)

Ask Paul if they do perfect he can ship(i cant see them from Belgium lol)i would do a check for parasites as soon if you find droppings so you now if you got to treat or not.
If they have something cure after a week.
Its also true that they recover the best in their final homes ,ask Paul what he thinks.
 
Maybe not a bad idea to start a "trioceros Johnstonii breedingroup" with all people who got animals from this shipment.
So you have a clear view of the population in the US.
You know who breeds what/who has what local/You can switch bloodlines and help each other.
Just an idea off course.
 
I dont think anyone should have problems keeping these guys. They are all super healthy and fat and are built like tanks. I had a trio for years and never had any problems with them. They never seemed to stress easy either. I only lost them because one day in the summer it got to 114 degrees and they were in my garage and I was stuck at work. Sad day. They are all outside right now in the sunshine here in California with a constant drip and in cages with a ton of foliage:) They are being well taken care of.

The Virunga pair are going to to Biffle. I spotted this pair right away. They were different from the rest and HUGE! The males horns look like mammoth tusks lol and the female is a behemoth.

Right on just hadnt heard anything else besides they had shipped. Good to hear they all got here safe and sound. Cant wait to get these and those Hoes in their cages next week. :D
 
I've changed mine to ship on Monday due to weather concerns at the cargo hub. Thanks for pointing that out Brian.

How many people requested refunds and ungracefullly bowed out of this deal? If they did, I bet they're kicking themselves right about now! :eek: ;)
 
Here are a couple not that great pics of Biffle's Virunga pair. They are MUCH larger and bulkier than the rest of the group and the males horns are ridiculous. I cant wait to see the colors on all of these when they are settled in and happy! He's one lucky guy for getting these!:eek::D



 
ohhhh man she looks gravid! I just hyperventilated again.

His horns are amazing! Maybe he should be named Bevo instead.

Trying to focus at work is not working out right now.

Wooooooooooow they look fantastic Paul,you do a great job keeping them perfect:eek:
These Virunga's are the holy grail of the trioceros species in Europe they go for a small fortune(i guess in the US for a big)
They are incredibly rare on 300 johnstons i had 5 of them.
I really hope Biffel can breed these would be fantastic.
There horns are almost double of a normal one and the males can color bright yellow,almost gold color(like the hoehnelli Altaalgonis males)
In Belgium i named him Manfred the mammoth ha ha

Me too! I hope everyone has success with these and the hoehnelli altaeelgonis, and these guys arent even colored up at all yet!! They get so bright turquoise and green and yellow.
