Update on Walker

Hey maxttu, i cant help but to notice the buldge in the front of the turret. I would suspect he may have skin from his last shed that may have made its way in. Its not uncommon. I dont think personally you are dealing with a vit A deficiency.

I would find a better vet in your area and have them look into the turret for removal of the skin, debris or possible infection.

This is the grey area i have with vets that dont know the species of animals they are treating very well. They inject and prescribe meds, preformed vitamins, ec. without a full examination and knowledge of all possible issues linked to physical signs a chameleon is showing. I could be totally wrong here and the vet could be 100% right. Take it for what its worth though.

Sorry to hear Walker is sick.

You asked about weights on 8 month olds. George is about 9 months old and weighed 126 grams on Feb 11th.

I also dust 1 feeder with Repashy vitamin A about once a month or so.

Hope he gets better soon.

Thanks again. I'll def keep y'all updated, but I'm really concerned. We'll see what's going on in the next couple of days.

Oh wow I did not realize he was having any problems. He is SO beautiful. I hope he gets better very soon and you will be back to posting pictures of him in no time.

It just all came on so suddenly. I noticed his eye prior to last wknd and then by Sunday the eye was shut.

After all of this ordeal today with the vet, I'm just sick to death worrying about all of this.

His supplements are right. His gutloaded feeders are in check. He gets lots and lots of natural sunlight. Why? WHY?!? Dang it all!!

Fenix had the puffy eyes, but never closed eyes. I eventually got that corrected with the extra mistings and showers.

I need a drink...

We'll just have to give it some time now and see how he does with what's been given. With the injection I'd wait a few days before supplementing with other vit A, but a few days in the way Kent described won't hurt. If that and the eye drops don't resolve it then more might need to be done, such as a nasolacrimal flush. Even if the duct isn't clogged it will help flush out the turret in case there is any debris or infection forming in there. During the next week or so I'd also do daily showers to help flush it naturally and soothe the inflammation. Hopefully he's back to normal in no time!

Dayna, thanks so much for taking the time out to chime in. Much appreciated!

Do you know anything about the drops that were prescribed? When the doc did it at the office, it seemed fine. When I applied the second round later in the day, it kind of gelled up over the eye? Like it wasn't going in the eye to be worked in...

Max,I am very sorry to hear about Walker!!! He is a fantastic looking guy and I know how upset you must be :( I will send you and Walker some positive waves my friend, please keep us informed on his progress.

Thanks, Steve! Much appreciated. I'm a wreck over here...

We're all pulling for you and Walker! Keep us updated - I know you are stressing out, but hopefully he gets fixed up and back to normal soon

Sorry to hear this Max, but I have every confidence you will get this worked out. I think the saying that I heard about children also can apply to us cham owners..

"We are only as happy as our least happy chameleon"... Hang in there bud, you guys will get through this. Kudos for taking quick action.

Max I am so sorry. I have been in my own funk lately and have not checked on my friends. Give Walker all our good thoughts and tell him we are pulling for him. He is a normally healthy cham, i am sure he can beat this and turn around. Let me know how he is doing.

Left eye was open this morning and the right was still cloudy. I gave him a quick misting and filled the dripper. I'm I'm Austin today for work, so I'll check in later once I get back to San Antonio. Thanks for the support!

(I've been wondering why I haven't seen you much on my Instagram feed...)

Well, just now getting back to the warehouse after being gone ALL day, and Walker greeted me with both eyes OPEN!!! You can still tell that he's not 100%, but I'll take it! I feel bad for not getting in some extra mistings today, but he'll get some extra loving over the weekend! ;)

That's great to hear!
It can take a few days to see the positive effects of the vitamin injections and medicines.
