i have encountered a problem.....first off i hate talking abbout money so this was very hard for me.......i used to order 500 crix online and use my moms credit card...then id give her cash right away...but that was x mas money...and its running out...so i will be doing choires alot to male some cash....but my mom still want me to buy the crix at petsmart....i want her to save her money and go online to order, but she wants to use petsmart.....what on earth do i do???? if i do choires every day i thinks ill afford the online cricket cost....and ill just buy a larger tub for them...my husbandry was a little off. so what should i do....any ideas???

Sound to me like you dont have any options. If you are dependant on your mom to buy the bugs, you have to do it her way.

Why is she resistant to buying them in bulk on line?
Determine the root of the issue, and work on that.
Is she afraid of buying online in general? if so, she could probably telephone and place the order. Is she thinking the noise of 500+ crickets will drive her nuts? Well, it would drive me nuts too. So what is your solution to that? will you cut off all the males wings? Is it that she thinks the money will be wasted because you cant keep the crickets alive? Buy ten more than you need, young ones, and keep them alive for a few weeks to demonstrate that you can. Does she perhaps just think you should be responsible for you pet and not need her to make purchases for you? well, maybe she's right!

But if the pet shop only has crickets, how are you going to provide variety? If you convince mom that silkworms are necessary for the health of your chameleon (not 100% true, but not entirely false either), and if you /she have to buy those on-line, then you may as well get the crickets at the same time from the same place.....

how many chameleons do you have? If just one, why would you want to buy hundreds of crickets at once anyhow? They'll die of old age before you use them up.

goo points i pay her in cash and use her card...i have been doing this for like 6 months...but she hates to see me spend my money online....i just thinks its my hubandry...thaks for the advise.

I order by phone: Lucky Lure Cricket Farm: 1-866-559-5873. If I remember correctly it's like $10.00 for 500.

I agree with Jann get them from Lucky Lure Cricket Farm via a phone order. Another way to do it is if you want to buy them online is to get those Visa gift cards that you see in Supermarkets. You can get one for $10 or $15 and test out a small order like that. When your Mum sees that it was a good transaction and that you can keep them alive etc then she may feel safer. If not order by phone and if funds are tight maybe you could look at start breeding your own :)

Try to explain to your mom that crickets at petsmart are over priced, poorly feed, and not the best value. By going through a reputable and secure online dealer your dollar goes much farther. The crickets are better quality, cheaper and delivered to your door...what more could you ask for?? Online shopping is just as safe, if not safer then retail stores. Ask her nicely, what her main concern is with ordering online? Less trips to petsmart saves gas and her time aswell. You got yourself in a tuff spot here, and are kinda at her mercy. So dont bit the hand that feeds you, and your cham for that matter.;)

I agree with Panthercham, try getting yourself a reloadable card or something. Or possibly you have another petstore alternative? I finally gave up with the horrible crix at Petsmart and found another local petstore with better prices and quality. I can get 1000 crix for like $20 now.

I can understand her point of view I guess. If you are only feeding one chameleon 6-8 crickets a day purchasing 500 is overkill.

First off, I wanna say its great that you are willing to supply the food for your cham by helping out. I wish my oldest did. I buy her snake its food even though I say I wont but I dont want it to starve and it would if I left it up to her chore completing! So Kudos for responsibility...

Whats wrong with buying what you need form Petsmart? If you only have one cham, 30-50 a week should suffice, especially if you dont have the means to keep them alive...Otherwise, maybe find someone in your area and split the cost?
