Vanity drainage project

What will you do with excess water that fall's on the PVC? Do you plan to drill small holes through the PVC and plywood to drip down into a drain pan in the vanity?

I'm using the wait and see approach. I'm hoping to not have too much excess water since I have the raindome and can concentrate the water directly over the plant. If this is an epic fail, I will either drill holes or ?? I'll be placing a 5gal bucket under the pot to catch any water... :)

To be safe I would put a bucket under there because regardless with that raindome you are going to have some trouble with over watering that plant and it will leak through the bottom of the pot. I am going to drill some holes through mine and then you can see how it plays out :)

Good job.. Sorry to say you will have drainage problems. Even with the raindome the branches create water highways and will run to the outer branches and fall outside of the pot. But i hope this isn't the case with you. I know water still drips away from the raindome cluster.

PS: Nice LS400 :D

Ok. I'll do a test run in a bit and see what happens. Thx for the input!

Ha! That car has been great. She has a lot of miles on her and as you can see, I keep her parked in the warehouse! I have a company car as my daily driver! :D

For drainage, now this might not make sense via text, but maybe putting a rubber mat over and around the pot and drilling holes that you can put pvc piping on like 5 or 6 sections. At the end of each pipe it should lead to a drainage bin. But my idea for the PVC so nothing happens is put screen over the top so that your chameleon or any feeders don't get down into the storage bin...Idk just a thought for you.

The drainage is being over complicated here.

Te weight of the plant should create a natural bow towards the center in the PVC (if it doesn't some small rubber spacers under the PVC on the edges will see that it does) cut a few arches on the lip of the pot and all the water on the outside will now just run down the side of the pot.

By the way I love this idea and have been contemplating something similar for quite awhile. I think you pulled it off very nicely looks good!

Thanks for the idea! That's great stuff! And thank you for the compliment! Nice, simple and clean looking! :)

I also KNOW u will have a drainage issue. So why not drill a small hole in the table top near the pot. Silicone around the pot to.the tabke top. And silicone a small pipe from the hole outside of the pot into the same bucket. And make the trim stick up half inch all the way around and silicone that water tight aswell.. just a thought. hope u get wat im saying.

Every time I see the title of this thread I imagine an elaborate drainage system designed to look like Maxttu's face.

Very nice work. Looks very clean and it keeps the plant pot from taking up room in the cage and at the same time allows for a larger plant in the cage. Great project it looks great.

What kind of saw did you use to cut by the way? And did you just trace the larger lip of the pot to the plywood?
