I used/use a 100w basking bulb for my cham but he did have some problems as a baby.. I got him when he was like 3 weeks old and he would keep his eyes shut and not eat. I don't know if it was the bulb or not. I still use the 100w bulb for him but hes 3 months now. You need to mist multiple times a day and having a dripper going also would be good.

i use a regular incandescent household bulb in a domed fixture for a basking light. Use the wattage necessary to put the temperature in the basking spot in the right range.

I keep the temperature for the babies in the low to mid 80's.

I never use a dripper for young hatchlings since the drops are usually large and they could aspirate the water. I mist them until they are a couple of months old and then mist and use a dripper from then on.

I keep my babies just like my adults as far as heat goes (75 watt basking bulbs works well for my conditions).

Babies are just as able to thermoregulate as are adults- a critical skill in nature for their tiny bodies which heat and cool very quickly because of small thermal mass. Keep that fact in mind and make sure they can not only warm up but escape the heat- that is why many feel safer just limiting the heat for babies. But if they can escape the heat, they will do great with same basking conditions as adults.

I mist babies (and usually adults- this winter some adults are using a drip- either way works well for veileds. There are parts of their wild range that receive very little rainfall- they have even been found in areas where rainfall did not occur for a few years previous to being found- not a nice life, but they are hardy so drip or mist is fine for adults). A hand misting bottle from the dollar store is fine to supply babies with water 3 or 4 times a day. It is not enough for adults. If you do not wish to purchase a misting system, then a drip is necessary (can be as cheap as a plastic cup with a pinhole poked in the bottom) to supply enough drinking water. A hand misting 1 or 2 x per day in addition would be appreciated by your lizard also.

Make sure the enclosure dries out completely between mistings.

I have 2-3 mo old veiled cham, I was using 100w but found smaller one (I think 75w), because his basking spot was getting close to 95 F.
