Walkin' Sticks

I was just given a whole bunch of these little guys. Apparently they are asexual and reproduce all by themselves. They can also grow up to 10 inches in about 10 months. Does anyone on here know anything about these insects???

I do had them a couple of years ago, ( I had mediterranean type) the should live on a screen cage and feed them lettuce collard greens and things like that. About the asexsual I dont think so they need the opposite sex to reproduce (i think) the eggs look like their poop and are pretty small if you have any other questions pm me.

I've never used them as a feeder but I'm sure they'd be a great one. I used to catch these when I was little when we went camping. They are just as cool as a mantid, if not cooler!

Walkin Sticks

Ya I was going to raise them as feeders. The breeder told me that there are both male and female but the females can reproduce all by themselves. The males are just there to spice up the gene pool every few generations to ensure that there is no retarded sticks down the line. They are like those bugs that look exactly like leaves. They reproduce all by themselves too. He also gave me a whole bunch of Praying mantis cacoons too, to raise as feeders aswell

Actually walking sticks are only male or female, but females do not need to mate to lay eggs. And if they lay eggs without mating then they only will be females. If you are using them for feeders feed them dark leafy greens like romaine lettuce, collard greens, or spinach. They normally eat bramble like privets and they also can eat ivy but these are all toxic to your chameleons. If you are feeding them the dark greens then they grow fairly slow. Their eggs are almost indestructible, they take around 4 months to hatch normally. They are illegal to buy and sell and can cause huge problems if they are not indigenous to your area. If you have any other q's I will be glad to help.

walking sticks

I live in Canada. I don't think they are illegal to sell here. The person I got them from has seen them sell from $5-$30 each. They are not native here and I'm not sure on laws behind them, but he gave them to me for free.
