Hello. Bored and waiting to go to dinner so I thought Id start something interesting. Id like to hear how people got their chameleons and if it was a rescue, then the big dramatic recovery stories, etc. Also names and why.

I got my veiled chameleon at a reptile expo last month. He is the first lizard I have ever owned and he is adorable. About 6 months old. I thought of naming his Jesus Christ to kind of mock the whole "atheist with a christian raising" I got going for me. But I ended up naming Lennon after, John Lennon of course. So whats your story? :D

Well Ill share my story... I have had chameleons 6 years ago and have always wanted more well I've been in trouble for the last 6 years and and am just coming off of a 15 month bit(I am on house arrest right now with two weeks left) I got my chameleon as a commitment to myself that I won't get into anymore trouble. I named my Chameleon Sunny because she likes to bask I dunno I guess they all like to but it just kind of fit.

I bought mine at west edmonton mall where there was only 2 female veilds left and they were in the same small glass enclsure :(... i bought Tica Bella Brisebois on impulse and am glad i have entered this intriguing world of chameleons. The people at the pet store did not know how old Tica is but im guessing around 6-10 months. I am currently lookin for a male and I am not sure where i can get one in alberta.

Current chameleons:

Pan- male veiled chameleon, amazing blue reptiles, reptile expo in September. I named him Pan because my favorite Greek God's name is Pan. The God of the forest, rustic wilderness, and all things wild. He could incite panic into people but could also be gentle.

Isis- female sambava panther chameleon, chameleons101, around December. I named her Isis because Isis is the Egyptian Goddess of the moon and rebirth. She was personified as a 'complete female.' She is the most powerful of all the Egyptian Gods and Goddesses. She was known as the mother of life and the crone of death at the same time.

King Tut The Veiled Chameleon

My mom drove me to the san diego reptile super show during july 2009. I already knew I was going to buy it from mike at fl chams as I talked to him earlier as he game me a great price. I named him king tut as his casque looks like the crown that the pharoes from ancient egypt wore

I just got my 7-ish month old male Panther chameleon last week at the NARBC in Chicago. I'd been eyeing them for quite some time, and finally decided to go for it. He is my first official reptile (besides childhood rescued turtles, snakes, etc...) My boyfriend breeds crested geckos, and has a carpet python who I often care for, and he is the reason why we ended up at the Conference. My cham is a beautiful ambilobe who I named Skittles, because he's every color.

Taste the rainbow??

Mine is named Whomi, he is a blue bar ambilobe i got from chameleons 101. Whomi is the name of one of my favorite tracks right now, and i was listening to it when he arrived, the awesomeness of song and reptile collided!

My first reptile, female veiled 6-10 months, I named her pandora becuase her feeder box is full of crickets and roaches, maybe mantesis when I decide to switch.

I'm getting a baby ambilobe from chamer and I am either naming him steve i. After steve Irwin. Or lanthos god of the wilderness and stalking prey. I'm leaning toward lanthos :)

My girlfriend got me mine for christmas this year. His name is Farley, after Chris Farley, and she got him from Chameleons Northwest. She liked him so much she also got one from NW and she named him Kamish. They are both male ambilobe BBs.

I have 2 Mellers: Asmar (live in Peace) and Dayo (Happiness is coming) and a Sambava panther named Ranobe (village in Africa). Asmar and Dayo came from Andy at Eco Regionals and Ranobe came from the Kammers at Kammerflage Kreations. I wanted to choose African names for all of them - Asmara is the capitol of Eritrea in Africa, Ranobe is a village in Africa and also a Bay. Dayo means happiness is coming in the African language. Just wanted to keep a little of their heritage!

Names current and old some died before the naming ceremony:

Girls: Horny, Nosy, Greeny, Scarry, Newby, Spikey

Guys: Stealer, Climber, Peeper, Browner, Neighbor.

Most of my boys I got because an importer had me drive 2 hours up to Los Angeles to get some females and when I got there she said "Oh I can't sell you these females unless you buy the same number of males." Typical. Fortunately some of the males were "the bomb"

I have a 4 month old female veiled that I got last month at the Rocky Mountain Reptile Expo. I named her Prisicilla, because that's what she looks like to me.

Lima bean- he is a 4 month old veiled. I got him from tikitiki reptiles. I named him Lima bean because he was soo green when I got him.

Peppermint- he is a four month old panther chameleon. I got him from tikitiki reptiles. I named him peppermint because when I got him he was orange and his eyes looked like small peppermints lol.

I got my little guys from Chameleons Northwest. At the time, I had just been introduced to Kamish Bread which is one of the most delicious things and so I decided to name him Kamish :)

Jay Jay (JJ)

I got a jackson's chameleon 5 years ago, i messed up and did not research at all like an idiot. I kept him in a 10gal aquarium, used a h2o fall, and did not dust his crix with anything. Needless to say he died in less than 2 months. (poor TRI:() But i decided to do it agian 2 weeks ago, i researched untill my brain hurt. I mean hours on end per day before i got him. I built him a 24x24x36 cage fully screened, made a dripper with the repti flo 200, and dust his crix every day and mist all the time. He is thriving. He is a juvinile veiled cham(male) that i ordered from mike(AWESOME!) from FL Chams. I love him so much. He is the offspring of Janoris a breeder of mike's. So i named him Jay Jay for Janoris Jr.

My girlfriend named my 4 month old ambilobe x ambanja 'cricket'

we'll see if that one sticks.. I was thinking more along the lines of herc (hercules), because he thinks he's tough. ha. I got him air mail from Jerm.

Obvi I'm not looking to breed, just a cool lizard to have around!

I don't know the ages of mine. Both were described as "full grown" when I got them. I have a Fischer's named Spike and a Rudis named Tink. Both were bought from Reptile City in San Diego
