What does your spouse (etc) think

My boyfriend said he didn't like Molly, yet he would always show her off to his friends, and after her he told me no more but then Leopold came along and he gave in and says he doesn't like him either but again shows him off to his friends LOL though Leo isn't as personable as Molly was, he is gorgeous! But Tim says one chameleon at a time. Which is all I think I could handle anyway with my odd little family of a dog, two cats, three rats, a yellow throated plated lizard, a green tree frog, a yellow spotted salamander, and of course Leo :D

Being an animal lover and seeing the effect on me for not having a pet for a few years I desided to get my life long dream pet...AKA a chameleon.

Once I finally got Splat, a panther cross, it has been nothing but an adventure...
Having no spouse, my friends were very supportive and was fascinated of him.
They have seen him grow from a cute little 6 week old, to a giant monster.
Since he is also so friendly to strangers, it is hard for anyone to not fall in love with him...and many non reptile lovers change their minds once they see him. ( Or should I say, once Splat notices the stranger and he starts doing some tricks to get their attention) :)

Once in his adult cage, it was hard to look at an empty baby cage.
I also was falling in love with the looks of a Quad.
So the disease was setting in, and I got myself on a list for a CB baby Quad.
Sadly, tragedy stuck and eggs and babies died. So I didn't get a baby and that empty cage kept haunting me.

With no hope of ever getting a CB Quad in a long, long time, I decided to get an ambilobie female with the possibility to learn first hand about breeding chameleons before I take on the possibility of breeding Quads.
So I got little Laurie, an abilobie female panther.
Once again my friends were supportive.

Then, I had the chance to get not just one WC Quad, but a pair.
I jumped at both of them.
While my friends were supportive, they started to get concerned.

A few months later I got a CH baby Quad from Laurie, named Tarzan.
My friends may have been distracted by his cuteness, but they were also getting scared that my addiction was getting out of control.

Then, after some begging, and Laurie twisting Luis' arm, I now have a possible future mate for Tarzan just a couple of months later.
Possible, because I honestly think this CB female Quad could be a male...but it doesn't matter as he is such a cute little thing.

My friends are now fully convinced that I'm NUTS and need help.
So I just tell them that they are correct and that they need to help me by buying me another!!! :)

My husband is not that into the chameleon or so he says....I caught him "talking" to him yesterday! lol. My mother in law thinks I am nuts and calls it "that lizard". My neighbor saw me holding it on my arm and screamed "Oh my god, you hold that thing"?! ewwww! They just don't get it now, do they?

My lady-friend didn't see the draw when I first told here I was thinking about getting a chameleon. After I got him she became interested in chameleons, even looking them up on the net, unbeknownst to me. She has hand fed him, wanted to see if Feldman would walk up her arm (he did) and even let him climb up her hair and perch on her head. She wasn't, however, overly keen about him when he started to poop on her head. Thankfully I got him off of her before he left very much there. She did not freak out, of course I denied that he was pooping until after I had safely separated him from her hair.

My husband is very supportive (even bought Spike for my birthday) but he thinks I'm insane...I guess he doesn't think that's such a bad thing.

Well since i still live with my parents and family since I'm still only 15, i guess they would be considered my spouses and what not. My bros think my chams are really awesome and cool. My parents think I'm weird lol because sometimes ill just sit down and watch my chameleons because i really think they are fascinating to watch. They are pretty unsupportive i guess. I just about paid for my chameleons and their expenses myself, but every now and then they will get me some feeders.

Very supportive. I've spent alot of time, money and took up alot of space and my girlfriend has been pretty patient. She enjoys them as well to a certain extent. My ex-wife on the other hand was the antichrist,...

My wife and I saw A veiled in A pet shop doing the leaf walk.Well thats all it took.6 months later I brought home A female. The next thing you know GOOGLE introduced me to screameleons . My wife digs the hobbie, and enjoys shareing her home office space. We've hatched 3 veiled clutches, and our first amblobe clutch is close!A little shopping trip paid for by A clutch can put A smile on any spouce. Just don't mention what that clutch cost to raise them

Well I'm so blessed because I've never owned a cham but my old lady had a few when she was younger and recently it was decided to bring one into our new family and here i am today learning

My husband has grown accustomed to my reptiles. I can't say me likes them much. He liked my uromastyx, didn't much care for my bearded dragons, and is sad that I am now into only chameleons. I have fewer chameleons in the house than I have in years, but even with automated light, water & drainage, he insist I spend more time on them than when I had a house full. I am called the lizard lady in the small town where we now live. I think David would be thrilled if I wanted to give up all my chameleons, but does understand that they are a large part of my happiness, so he lives with them. He will even take vacation a couple of weeks during the year to stay home and take care of my chams, so I can get out of town. That is all I can ask, he doesn't have to love them the way I do, just respect my right to love them, which he does.

My husband was sweet enough to buy me my first chameleon. :D So I guess you could say that he's okay with the hobby!

I have introduced my girlfriend to panther chameleons and vise versa, :) . She was skeptical when I told her I wanted to raise chameleons, and it wasn't the live insect feeders that bothered her. It was her dislike of snakes, and bigger iguana's. I assured her they were much different. when I got my male ambilobe "morpheus" she was amazed by him and understood how fascinating these animals are, and now with the addition of my female who she just ardors and calls "lady", and I am still deciding on naming, lol. She has come to realize they are harmless and loves them both.

My girlfriend is another reptile lover. :) My dad thinks Napoleon is pretty cool and likes watching him. My mom seems to love him too, but is iffy about reptiles being kept in captivity.

Coming from a household of birds and dogs and tortoises, chameleons seemed like a crazy step forward, or so my family thought.

My grandmother despised the thought of reptiles in the house (besides tortoises, which in her mind aren't really reptiles.... yea... I know.) but she gave in when she first saw Leo.

she still said she hated them, but I started coming home from school to find her watching him or spraying the cage, she even spoke to him in Spanish.

Now Basil is her little baby, and she always comments to feed him more since compared to by fat little Sambava (leo) Basil is a shrimp (Ambanja).

My girlfriend thinks they are awesome, and holds them no problem. But she despises the feeders, my mom will feed them from the hand, and all my friends think they are awesome.

My girlfriend loves it - we just moved in together and within a week we had already received Andrew. he is so into she she has even agreed (if I want) to allow me to try my hand at bredding dubias :)

this is such a good thread! alot of awsome and funny stories here!!

it was my girlfriend's birthday last november, and i was going to get her a puggle or a chameleon, both she wanted so the decision was hers. She ended up choosing the chameleon. After going all around town to different pet shops, purchasing a bunch of supplies (by the way, that WERENT right supplies), ang getting screwed by an ordered chameleon that never came in, i drove an hour and a half away to buy her Maui. A 9 month old chick veiled.

at the time i thought lizards were cool, never wanted to touch them though. lol, ive always had a fear of handling snakes (and still dont touch them) i think they're awsome, but just something about the way they move lol. anyways. the whole ride home Maui's little hand was poking out of the box, i debated over and over again to poke it, lol. she was such a cutie from the beginning, but i was just nervous lol. we got her set up, and a week later i held her. from that momemnt on i was hooked!

personally, i guess I have always been supportive of my girlfriends interest, and love towards her animals. it was through her that i touched lizards for the first time, crickets and other insects for the first time. and its because of that beautiful funny NO GOOD WOMAN THAT IM ADDICTED NOW! hahaha

i now have 3 chameleons and two crested geckos that are in my room, no more can fit at the moment, but i assure you the collection will grow when im out. my parents are supportive, my mom gets frusturated and anxtious about the amount of loose crickets that get out, but she still loves the chams. my dad says they're stupid, and that "back home in the philipines, we eat those things" lolol (he's totally civillized btw, just a jerk trying to be funny lol) but i know he supports me, because electricity bills have been a tad bit higher the last year. lol, i also know he supports me because of all of the cages ive built, and how dirty the garage has gotten, how many tools have been misplaced.. oh i have no moved on to the family water jugs (thus for my mistking), will see how he takes this one lol.

my rents are pretty worried and scared now that i have dubias in the house though, its my ass if they get out and start breeding and eating the walls. lol

the rest of my family seems to love them to, they are always an attraction when my fam comes over for sunday lunch on ocassion, and they find it hillarious that when the days the come over (which is once or every month or so) im building a new cage lol. my papa and grandma who are always over, liike them too, but they refer to my chams and geckos as "little critters"

My boyfrield isnt into reptiles, he thinks my cham will bite his finger off or spit poison in his eyes like the Frill-necked Lizards on the jurassic park movies.LOL He pet him a little but wont hold him. He said he will throw him and make him fly....I threatened I would kill him if he tried it. We went to the Repticon show today and I showed him the adult chams they had and told him thats what he will look kinda like and get that size and my boyfriend is like you better keep that monster in a cage...he could kill someone. lol hes crazy i love my cham. my cat likes him, she meows at him and he puffs up and tries to hiss at the cat. he doesnt like the cat at all. But the cats great at catching escape crickets...she eats them. My mom thinks I'm crazy and she likes him in the cage and my dad loves him and thinks hes soo cute. my neice likes him she has a veiled cham hes older I guess a teacher at her school was giving him away and had him in a tiny cage they rescued him last week. everyone else likes him, we love playing wheres waldo with everyone who comes over...who cam spot the cham because he blends in so well. :)
