ewwwww - what is that ? there are many now doing this - I know it has something to do w/ the eggs or babies- I really try NOT to look at my roaches :p but now about 1/2 the bin is doing this - is it to breed, or give birth- they run around with that THING sticking out

so the babies are already in there - she is going to be having them , that is not part of the getting pregnant part?
well then , I am going to be having A LOT of babies - this bin is just coming "of age" , and there are about 150 of them doing this
thanks for the info :)

LOL hey at least you had some idea about what you were looking at!!!
When a friend gave my first Dubia to start a colony I just put them in a tub and kept gut load and fresh fruits and veggies in with them to eat. I never did any reading/research on them at all, just let them alone. When I opened the tub one day lo and behold a pure white one was at the top on egg crate. I quickly posted how I had an Albino Dubia  well EVERYONE had a good laugh and Then told that it had just molted and I felt VERY dumb!!! On the bright side I immediately started reading everything I could find on them and now have thousands of them and have helped several people start new colonies from my colonies. We live,we learn and hopefully we can share what we learn with others!!! Sounds like you are about to have lots of roaches :)

I already have alot of roaches - lol to many - everyone in my area wants me to see them to them- and I would, except I am to scared to pick up the adults  the best I can do is poke them  I was brave enough to take them outside ONCE and sort out a bunch of males to send to a member- and had nightmares that night about them- that was the last time I touched an adult - the babies do not bother me at all - there are well over 1K in each bin- I even got rid of a bin just so I would not have so many - and it had way more than 1K in it - I know I need to get over my fear of the adults - but UGH ! EVERY NIGHT I think they are lose - I even get up at like 3 am to check and be sure the lids are on right - I have 6 locks on each lid- and still I think they are getting out- none ever have - I had a lady once come, she wanted to swap males, and females- she said she had never seen such big females- and she is a breeder of roaches ! they scare me - LOL

Shoot I'll take some lol... I like to pick them up. My Husband thinks that I'm crazy for picking them up. I need to pick up some more.

   pick them up - as in TOUCH THEM  as in you LIKE to do it for no reason - LOL - its not like my fear is unfounded - I had never really even seen a roach until I went to South America - we staying in the rain forest on a boat that had hit a sand bar, they could not get it unstuck, so they made it into a "hotel" - it was so cool- BUT - they warned us to be sure to put our nets down tightly - when I woke up the first night- OMG- the nets was COVERED in HUGE roaches- I did not sleep for the next 30 days - lol and yes on occasion a few would get threw the net- one guess where they went- TO YOUR FACE - so that is why I am so scared of them to get lose - it was a great trip except for that - it still freaks me out to this day :(

LOL OMG, that would be super freaky! Roaches dont bother me, but waking up to them all around on a net, wow that would scare anyone! haha I totally pictured it with the horror movie sound eee eee eee eeee. hahaha.

believe it or not- the worse was waking up and seeing them on other peoples face ! they had some weight to them - so you could feel them crawling on the sheets - I loved every cool bug I saw- EXCEPT those

Lol yea I'm weird. But my theory is this: I consider them "clean " since I feed them what I want them to eat. I can't stand German roaches or wood roaches that run lose eating whatever they can get their mouths on. I can't stand supers or meal worms, but I'll mess with them because my Chameleons and beardie like them.

My husband is going to flip when I bring in banana and hissing roaches lol. But yes any feeder Roach that's in a bin and I know what their eating I'm fine with it lol

OK, now I understand and totally empathize with your aversion to roaches.... yikes!!!!

now the banana , I have those too- they are cute - very bright green , and look nothing like a roach - they kinda look like a leaf bug - and I even had hissers , but I gave those to my vet for his class - its just something about the adult, and how strong they are - it really is amazing the grip - I would NEVER have those red RUNNERS - just the name is enough to send chills :p

Is it completely impossible for them (dubias) to get out and infest your house? I'd like to get them, because they sound easier/better than crickets, but I'm terrified that they'd get out and infest my home. I know it's probably unfounded fear, but I'm having a hard time getting past it.

I do believe they can not infest your home- they can survive outside the bin - but they need such specific's to carry on breeding, I do not think they can - well , I suppose they COULD - but unlikely - ( that is what I believe- no one tell me different - :p )

On occasion I have had a couple get loose. Usually when feeding the boys in their trees. I usually find them and they are on their back just laying there. I have found one or two walking by.....but not really concerned that they will infest. Now this happened back when my boyfriend was doing some of the feeding and he would lose track of the roach, I almost never lose a roach, only have lost 1 or 2. I suppose if they went under the refrigerator or found a nice warm humid spot they could breed, but unlikely for an infestation.

Maybe I'll look for them at the show this weekend. If they look more like a rollie pollie than a german roach, I might be able to do it, but I don't know. Wish all bugs were as cute as silkworms, lol.
