What is your dream chameleon specie?

Where do you live and do you have pictures? :) Have you tried to breed them or had any luck in that department?

I live in the uk, and i have not attempted breeding yet, and wont be doing until they have spend some time in thier outdoor enclosures this summer, i only got them last year and the male was tiny tiny when i first got him but is now just coming to maturity. I am hoping that once that they settle into the outside cages i can attempt breeding them.

And i have put a post up with photos of them on this section.

I once got to work with Brookesia perarmata and it would be wonderful to work with them again. I like the picture of the B. vadoni, I forgot how beautiful they could be.
Other than those 2 I'd have to say my dream species would be C. namaquensis, because it is so unlike other chameleons & my chances of seeing one in person are less then a snowball's chance in hell:D

Brookesia perarmata is a long way away from being seen anywhere in captivity again. I hope they make a recovery in native wildlands through conservation efforts and preserves however they now are listed as a Vulnerable species and only come from a small home area. You definately have got more of a shot at B.vadoni and C.namaquensis.

We can cross or finger though that justified collections could someday be approved again.

Yeah I know, there was an add earlier this year on one of the European classifieds sites I lurk on and they had a pair of B. perarmata for sale, but the price was exorbitant (which it should be). The pair I got long time ago, unfortunately I lost the male fairly quickly, but the female survived for almost 2 years in captivity. She was a hardy lil girl.

I would love to get my hands on the namaquensis, especially after watching them on the Life special. The way they thermoregulate(one side goes all dark and the other side light). However I think I would probably have to appeal to the controlling agencies of Namibia for them and that seems like a futile attempt. But you never know. lol

Really ? I think I'm relatively well informed but I haven't heard something about it. It was probably a fake I think

Bump!! This is a neat thread I figure I would give it a bump! It is kind of neat that two years later some of these dream species have actually become available to forum members.

Calumma Parsonii Parsonii (yellow lip) and CB Melleri are my future plans and have always been my dream. Would love to have C. Globifer and C. Brevicornus as well:D. Its impossible to just have one chameleon, how the hell am I suppose to have just one DREAM chameleon lol

I'm a huge fan of globifers as well.

Like Chris said there are many exceptional chameleons to choose from. With appropriate and proper conservation we may eventually have the privilege of working with many of these species.

I just mentioned some Madagascar species. My dream species from the Trioceros chameleons has got to be T. cristatus, T. deremensis, T. eisentrauti, T. ellioti, T. feae,T. feulleborni, T. goetzei, T. hoehnelii, T. laterispinis, T. melleri, T. montium, T. oweni (I had an old breeder friend who had two pair and said they were neat although exceptionally tough to work with and breed), T. pfefferi, T. quadricornis and its subspecies, T. tempeli and lastly T werneri. All of those I dream about keeping.

I have not even mentioned species from Kinyongia, Bradypotion and other African genera.

I dont even know where to start! Anything calumma would be a given but c
globifer would probably be at the top of that list..

But b. damaranum and melanocephalum definitely hit the top of my list and damaranum is now available to us here in the states!

I used to have said a red body blue bar Ambilobe, but now I've got one. So there always has to be something new to set our sights on. Now I would love to get a beautiful electric blue Nosy Be', but more than anything I would love to get a pink panther (Ankaramy). If I could possibly find one, I might just have to splurge. Maybe one day.

To be honest they only came to my attention in the last week or so as some (I can't remember their tag) is going to import them along with several other small sp this November. I would absolutely love to get some, I have been reading up on them and they are so adorable!

I am still relatively new to the world of chameleons, so mine might seem a but silly to some, because they aren't really rare or anything, but I jsut love ambilobes. I think they are just gorgeous! I was going to get one for my first chameleon, but opted for a veiled instead. I had bad luck with him, and am now thinking about getting an ambilobe! Then my dream will probably change!

I would love to have Parsons and Carpets, but number one for me has to be a Mt Meru Jackson male! I just love those horns!:D

Since I posted this I have changed my mind slightly! I got My Jackson last year (a Xanth rather than a Meru) and that was my most wanted, so I feel very lucky! :D However, these days I am mroe drawn to Melleris - I would LOVE one of those, but don't have room unfortunately.

furcifer rhinoceratus - I love the purples and think the guys and gals are awesome

and

Furcifer timoni - I love the blue spots and how they look like they're wearing a shoulder cape. :)
