What the heck were those?

Ok, I was cleaning out Rusty's (male veiled)tank and of course he had to pinch out a fresh one for me to pick up. While I was waiting I uhn *noticed* (ok, I was watching)while he was pooping there two red node things pushing in and out on each side of his vent! They reminded me of a snail's eyes the way they retracting in and out. I had my camera beside me, but I was too uhm, *facinated* to catch a pic! What are those? I have a pretty good idea...but am curious

Those are his Hemepines(I'm never sure if I spell that right), but those are what makes him a boy... If you get what I am saying.... Sometimes as males come of age they start to play around with them, exposing themselves sometimes. Unless they are staying out... I don't think you have anything to worry about.
