Where were you 10 yrs ago today?

I was in school in Spain at the time. It was actually my second day of school so we got out at half day to have lunch at home. I was at my grandfather's house finishing up lunch and we turned on the news. We thought it was a movie at first. Even in Spain everyone was in bars and stores turned into the TV all day.

Edit. I was 12 at the time. It's interesting to see how many members were 7 years old or younger... these crazy kids, getting into chameleons so young lol But I was old enough to remember everything. My dad often flies to NY for business meetings or conventions and I remember we called him to make sure he wasn't anywhere near NY.

i think i was at school when it happend. i was like 7 so i dont really remember :/ teachers were playing it on tv freaking out. my dad (now retired form 30years) was a marine(sp?) and very upset.

I know this is a little late, but I don't really recall that day much. I had just turned 7 years old the week before and everything is a bit fuzzy. All I really remember is going home from school and seeing my mom watching the tv talking on the phone with my grandmother..

Being in South Dakota where they store the military jets and aircraft's, many South Dakotan's where frightened that we where next in line for the attacks. Thank fully we weren't.

I'm not religious or anything and this sounds hypocritical, but god bless all those people that lost their lives on that miserable day. It's a terrible thing to think of and we all wonder what makes someone do such a horrible thing...

My husband had just gone back to work after 9 months involving 3 major surgeries to save his life. His first day back was September 10, 2001. I was in the shower when the second plane went in. I came out to find my still frail husband in shock over what he'd seen.

We didn't get a whole lot of "normal" time.

We woke our 6 year old daughter and put her in the living room with a video so she wouldn't have to watch, then kept up on the news in the kitchen during breakfast and getting ready for the day.

We walked her to school together (as we always did when she was in elementary school) then went to our respective jobs.

I remember I had to go out and buy a TV because we didn't have one in the office and the bosses wanted to be able to watch the news as it was happening.

It was 5:46 here on the west coast. I was up for work and watching live world news with my mom. There was a reporter talking about the Dow Jones on a building with the towers in veiw behind him when I seen the first plane hit. Then the second, the Pentgon and flight 93; my heart sank as I realized what was happening. Having to go to work that day was rough, the vet clinic I worked at didn't have one client come in or call.

So many Wifes, Husbands, Mothers, Fathers, Brothers, Sisters, Sons, Daughters, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Friends and Lovers were lost that day. For all of them and the Heros that risked their lives to save them

We Will Never Forget

I would not be able to take care of pets without the safety and prosperity of America! Don't take your country for granted!

That was not ment as a negative comment by any means, it was ment to show that even though it was across the country we felt the devastation too.

I'm offended you would think I would take it in vane.

Please step back and take a few deep breaths....

Seeco was not trying to be offensive, Jessica was not trying to be dismissive.

I feel this is a touchy subject for anyone to jump to conclusions, not looking for a fight but I'm allowed to defend my character. I'm not some smug person who just had a slow day at work 10 yrs ago and I dont appreciate being made out that way.

I took your comment as evidence that people were too distraught to even deal with pet health issues, not that you resented being available to help them. As I said, not the least bit dismissive.

However, I took Seeco's comment simply as having been inspired by your dedication. I didn't think he was telling YOU not to take the country for granted. I thought he was telling all of us that we have the best animal care around, thanks to people like you who suck it up and go to work even when things are bad.

Guess thats the down side of forums, you can't see peoples movements and expressions and when communicating it makes a HUGE difference.

We read it differently ;) I said my peace and got over it.

The inability to convey tone is certainly a downfall. I have the advantage of having met Seeco, so could put his voice to the post.

:eek:Oh no! You got me wrong. You revealed an interesting thing about humans and pets -- we have to make sure our lives are secure before we adopt another living creature.

What I am saying is that if we lived in one of the many countries suffering attacks every day we would not have such chalenging pets as chameleons and forget about having time to blog about it!

I was 23 years old and living in Hawaii. I worked at a big hotel/resort and I remember talking with guests that lived on the east coast and seeing how nervous they were and how they felt very far from home. I too felt isolated from the rest of the country in a way..... the island of Maui seemed sooo far from NY, and in the days that followed seeing how the American people came together, gave me an overwhelming sense of pride. I also knew that we were now at war and that someone was going to pay for this cowardly act. I recently enlisted in the Army National Guard and for the next 6 years will do my part to protect my State and my Country.

Oh I'm so glad I misunderstood! I've always like reading your posts and blogs and of course your chameleons ;)
It honestly upset me when I thought you thought that way of me! Guess I was feeling a little sensitive

I enjoy face to face conversations more just for this reason. Now excuse me while I go pry my foot from my mouth. Thank you Seeco for clearing it up!

I was in my 8th grade science class when I found out the bad news. Still remember the exact moment to this day.

I am now an American soldier and wouldn't change it for anything.

I was at my apartment not far from NYC expecting to work that night in NYC when the attacks occured, I had been clearing my dad's office with him weeks prior to the attack inside the trade center where my dad had been working for over 25 years, my dad had just retired but was still going in to help out and I had no idea if he was there when it first happened, I will never forget the pit in my stomach (similar to the one I had with the bombing in the 90's which my dad was there for) on that day:( For awhile after driving to work in the city it felt like being in a movie because my car was surrounded by soldiers with guns, every where you looked was army jeeps, and soldiers with weapons, people were very scared to go to work and the site of ground zero was heart breaking. I grew up as a child visiting my dad at work for so many years there that even after all this time it is difficult for me to see what it looks like to this day. I thank god for the love and unity of our country and for all the soldiers and civilians who lost and risked their lives.

I was just starting my senior year in high school!! I live in Long Island NY a lot of the students were in shock and a few teachers were in panic and in tears, but We never got to really see for ourselves the devastation until we went home and saw it on tv and by that time it was chaos out here. I'm only 20 minutes from the city a group of friends and I went to a high parking lot where we were able to see the city at night. The entire island of manhattan was covered in smoke and you could see the lights of helicopters and I would assume fighter jets swarming around. It was a very sad sight and huge eye opener for me at 17 years old at the time. A lot changed for me immediately after that day as with many others. Bless the fallen of 9/11

I had just gone downstairs to turn on the tv for my son Alexander. I saw the bottom of the screen "Airplane crashed on NY building", so I turned to NBC to see what was going on. As I watched the broadcast and the first tower burning the second plane hit. How can anyone justify this actions in the name of religion?...or anything for that matter? I still think we should have nuke the towels off their heads this rat ass bastards. Imagine changing the mountain regions of Afghanistan to a flat parking lot uninhabitable for the next ten thousand years. We have thounsands of ICBM's rusting in silos, warships and subs. The capability we have to strike from far wouldn't have put a single american soldier at risk. And it would have send a clear message to every regime, country who does not like our way of life: Don't fuck with the United States of America.
