Why did you name your cham what you named him?

i have a blue bar ambilobe i named dante. i watched dantes peak just before i got him and when he gets all mad his chin seems to glow a red orange like lava color so dante it is

There is a picture of Stanley Kubrick sitting in his directors chair and when my first Ambilobe looked at me for the first time that is ALL I saw.. He's also temperamental, and EVERYTHING has to be perfect so it was just fitting :) I have NO idea why my new one is called Herbie Hancock.... Thats the fiances choice... She's insane....

Named my first ever chameleon 'Wiley', cuz a friend who was with me said he was a 'wiley lil fella'...It just sounded right and it stuck:rolleyes:.

Panther Cham: Nosy Be/Ambanja cross.

my panther, "Mad" Max; The Road Warrior because I liked them movie(s) and I travel alot so he would be a "road lizard"

Morpheus my Jacksons because I was trying to think of something to do with three horns, which made me think Trinity, which in turn made me think of the Matrix, but I didn't like Trinity for a male jacksons so I went with Morpheus (a main charactor in the movie for anyone who lives in a cave)

so I guess I have a theme with movies...

It might be kinda boring....but all my chams are named chamy LOL or cham! He is what he is, and I dont call him much anyway :)

I usually name mine from movies like Harry Potter. hahaha. I've got an Albus and a Buckbee among others. :D:D:D

Dr. Jekyll

I named my ambanja, "Dr. Jekyll" for two reasons. #1 His daddy is the famous Doctor Gonzo. #2 One day Dr. J is so nice and willingly steps on my hand to come out of his cage. Other days, he wants to do surgery on my hand and remove my fingers one by one.

I named my veiled chameleon Pee Wee Herman because I swear that he was doing the pee wee herman dance (na nana na na na na na nana na na na) remember Pee Wee's Big Adventure. It fit him perfect.

When it comes to picking names I say the rule of thumb is... Pick a name of one of the American Gladiators. Go with that. You cant go wrong:D

I named my 2.5 month old ambilobe male Krakatoa, after the volcanic island of Indonesia. His father, Son Tiger, is one fiery looking panther. Hopefully mine will be too! There are strong hints of red coming in....wish I had a good DSLR!

"Krakatoa"-what a great name! especially since his father is so colorful

Thanks! It's actually kind of funny, since Krakatoa is a dangerous, active volcano...and my tiny little guy is, well, not so threatening. Unless you're a bug :).
Decided to name my Ambilobe female Java, since it's another Indonesian Island. And her colors often look like a cup of java.

Mine have to have 'people names'. My first was named Lily after my late grandmother (not sure she would have approved though, lol!). Amy - I had a whole list of possible names for her, a lot of them meaning Lily in a different language, but nothing stuck until my daughter suggested Amy. Tommy was called Billy when I got him but I didn't like that as the old man from next door was called Bill! My daughter also suggested Tommy and that stuck too! :D

My dogs are always named after mountains....I was going to stick with that theme for the Chams but the kids intervened and now we have George LOL

Sounds like those of us who have kids don't have much of a say-so! Looking forward to the names my future kid(s) will pick for my future chams :)
