his arriving tomorrow, but am pretty pits off that his wild caught.
I knew i ran the risk but i though they were from a private breeder, but his not -__- now am worry that i wont provide him with enough resources, has anyone have experience with these in the past?

I'm thinking of a bird cage so i can have him outside my window during the day time, so he can get proper sun light.. idontknow  what do you guys think the proper care for him should be?

Whats your complete plan of care? Fill this out https://www.chameleonforums.com/how-ask-help-66/

Ask the person you are getting the cham from. when they received him/her and did they treat for parasites and if so with what? If they did, Ask if they ran a fecal or shot gun treatment?

Best course of action is to be sure everything is correct with husbandry before he/she gets here. As soon as you see the first droppings take it in for analysis for parasites (you dont need to take the chameleon in for this). If the parasite count is over loaded the vet will tell you and you will need to treat accordingly. Fecal and Water, water, water is your first priority.

is call reptiles underground is located in florida , does anyone know about them? and i dont think this people know anything about them

Always check the BOI on faunaclassifieds before you make a reptile related purchase. They have reviews of many breeders and stores. You cant ask about businesses on here though.

There are many reasons we don’t allow breeder and individual review threads on Chameleon Forums. Primarily it’s a moderation nightmare. Unfortunately most of those kinds of threads tend to be negatively charged and can quickly escalate into bickering, finger pointing and name calling. Good reputations can easily be damaged by an inadvertent comment derived from rumours and innuendo even from parties not directly involved. Chameleon Forums is here to educate and offer support within the community, not to be a part of the drama that is often associated with it.

There is a website equipped to deal with these types of problems and they have certain standards in place to prove or disprove any accusations between the parties involved. It is called the Board of Inquiry located at Fauna Classifieds. I strongly recommend that you check the respective forums before you purchase to verify whether the breeder has a positive reputation or not.

If anyone has any suggestions on how we could implement something like this here please do not hesitate to send me a private message.

i have a feeling this is a female if not a old adult male, since they caught in the wild no one really knows

it appears to be male

brown paper bags is how i ship animals. only other way i prefer is in a cloth bag.

If those poo's are still fresh or moist atleast. GET THEM TO A VET NOW!@ That will be one of the worries tackled.

yeah but the way they set it up was inside a box with 2 bricks, dont you think that could of squish him?

& yea am already on it thats the first thing am going to get to do this weekend, but is there a general way to sex them like vields ? & i herd they are poor c.b

he seem super sweet tho specialy for a wild caught

I would not handle him except when it is necessary. i would not ship with two bricks of eco earth. With that said he looks to be in ok shape despite that. i wouldnt dwell on the negativity. Put that to the past and start giving this boy hat you have as an good chameleon owner.
You may not get another chanve with a fresh poo. It truly needs to be done ASAP. i dont know how to put it in any other words meaning rush, hurry, expedite, promptly....

And sometimes running a dewormer through a debilitated chameleon does more harm than good. I would let him settle in and make sure he is hydrated and eating before hitting him with toxic medications.

I really dont see the thought of delaying a fecal. Taking the poo in for analysis is only going to help care for the future of this guy. If this guy does indeed have a abnormal load..decent health or even impaired health the need to treat the underlying problem is crucial.

How long should he wait to see if he eats?

im not attacking you or discrediting you at all. Your very knowledgeable when it comes to chameleons. IMO, When it comes to wildcaughts its a time sensitive issue if there is a load.

but as soon as i can i shall go to the vet

You have to remember that Panacur and other dewormers are essentially a poison. Granted the Panacur is relatively safe if dosed incorrectly but it is still a poison. In general wild caught chameleons are malnourished and severely dehydrated so I find that hitting them with doses of dewormers right off does more harm than good as their bodies just can’t handle the dead and dying parasites inside their systems and they end up succumbing themselves.

I prefer the chameleon to be eating and drinking well before I hit them with Panacur as their bodies can withstand the meds and their effects. Panacur is an appetite suppressant so I don’t want to give that to a chameleon that hasn’t eaten in days or weeks. Like you, my first course of action is to water water water and more water. I’ll shower every day, I’ll increase misting times to ensure they get rehydrated. Water will also help flush their systems too. Healthy, gutloaded insects and privacy are also of utmost importance to acclimating a wild caught.

In this case this specimen looks to be okay. I’ve seen much worse in my day. He is covered in plenty bite marks and scratches (those black marks across his back and head) but those will go away with subsequent sheds.

I have to agree with Trace regarding the chameleon being able to cope with the load of dead parasites. IMHO its better make sure the chameleon is eating and drinking well and to give it some time to settle in before treating the parasites. From what I've been told the number of parasites may decrease if the chameleon is given some time to settle in.

i gotta agreed you do seem to make a point there, that's why a poop example for the vet Saturday morning should be just fine. He seem verry skinny too and a little hydration wont hurt so am going to work on that for him this week, but other than that theres no special needs ? like lets say a Jackson that needs the forger machine? & it's crazy i was wondering why he looked like that but am glad it can e z go away with sum shedding
