OK… I am starting to get a little frustrated with the damn crickets, buying thousands at a time, having to reorder them and paying for shipping ECT… I am cool with all that but I just want a feeder that doesn’t require that I rely on another person to feed all the hungry animals. And also if I just want to save a few bucks I could just breed them like crazy to get more of them. I was thinking about working with my favorite feeder, silk worms however I don’t feel like embarking on that undertaking until I am in my new home. Soooo *sigh* I guess that only leaves the damn roaches… I would like to buy a breeding colony from somebody in here which I can use to create my own… SO, if you are able to set one up please shoot me a PM and we can work it out! Thanks guys!

I got mine from Matt Wheelock. look him up in the member directory and shoot him a email...Also Brad had some, where has he been lately?

Dubia roaches

Yep,

I have some roaches for sale right now. I'm sorry I've not been around for a while, but I have some big projects this time of year and somethings had to give.

Talk to you later,
Matthew

Be advised that it takes forever to get roaches going. I've had my B. dubia for at least 3-4 months and my first set of nymphs aren't even close to adulthood. My wife has been putting the heat on about getting rid of my entire colony of B. dubia before starting a colony of P. nivea.

I'll second that.
It took a year before I had enough going and felt good about pulling a few for regular feeding.
The sooner you start your own colony(s) the better.

Matt shot me a mail and I am going to be getting a few from him. However if they take that long to get going perhaps I should get some more... How much you want for yours Dave? Might need to get some full grown... How long do they live?

You won't have that long to wait in this case Chad. The roaches I send are mixed with quite a few adults. Often times they start having babies while they are being shipped.

My colony took 6 months to start, but that is because it took that long for my 1/4 inch nymphs to reach maturity.

I sent you about 120. About 40 are already adult and breeding.

Some places charge up to $.75 for each adult. I try to mix in some good sized ones so colonies don't take that long to establishe.

I usually charge $22 for 50 plus shipping (but I usually overstock by at least 10% to account for any possible shipping loss- which is usually not a problem.)

Mr. Wheelock,

Do you have any blaptica's available?

Are blaptica's the same as dubia? and is it true they can't live under 80 degress temperature?

Thanks!

I'm selling whatever population of breeding colony you want now.
Up to 800 ...all ages, lots of adults @ .50 ea no shipping.

-Brad

Would you one of you mind commenting on the blaptica dubia's? Do you need a heat ceramic or bulb to keep them above 80 degrees? My vet said my wife would like the blaptica's better than crickets, and they're easy to breed. true? no flying no climbing?

thanks for the great prices guys!

-royden

No climbing....the males can take off, but rarely (keep a lid on them though)
I only use a heat source in the winter. They will survive fine at a lower temp, but don't breed well unless they're pretty warm.
Make sure the enclosure is well ventilated and not too humid....some is necessary but too wet and it gets messy...promotes mold growth and you'll have more losses.

-Brad

I got my first box of roaches today… Boy howdy; they sure are different than what I am used to squishing on the side walk… They look like they will make much better food than crickets! I just have to get over the whole massive roach fear… I mean they are not zooming all over the place or anything like the normal ones… And sure… I did scream and run around like a little girl when one managed to make its way up my arm, but I think that they are something that I can get used to by the time I have enough to start feeding them off… I just wish I would have had a camera on me when that happened… America’s funniest video here I come!

Oh, and awesome bugs from Matthew! They came fast, packed well and over accounted for! A+++++++++++++ e-chambay rating.
