If it was an ever green shrub you will want to remove the needles from it for sure or the leaves if it isn't, you will also want to cure the wood before putting it in the enclosure, usually baking it in the oven for 30 minutes would be fine to kill anything that may be in the bark or branches...

A ceramic heater is really only good for night time heat if the temps are dropping very low. A cham will not recognize it as a basking spot..
