Is this caterpillar safe to feed to my Panther?

I would not feed it either. Hornworms that feed on tomato plants ARE toxic and should not be fed off to any lizard. Keepers that use tomato plants usually do so as a place for the adult moths to lay eggs. It really is not necessary as the female will lay eggs anywhere and everywhere.

    Hornworms months

I recently allowed about 40 worms to pupate and have had almost half of those hatch into moths. I have them in an old reptibreeze. I put in a hibiscus plant for them to lay on but as others have said they lay anywhere and everywhere. It is really cool to watch them fly around at night, they...

    CJ's Hunger Strike

So CJ has decided he will only eat crickets!!! He used to just gobble up anything I put in his food cup but now he ignores most everything. I have tried not feeding anything for a couple days but he still refuses to eat the alternate bugs. How long is it safe to fast him and is this an...

    Boy or girl?

Your chameleon is a female. Here is a link to basic veiled care. https://www.chameleonforums.com/care/caresheets/veiled/ She will also need a laying bin but not for a little bit. She looks to be only a few months old.

Are butterflies with large wings safe?

I would skip buying crix from Amazon. Ghann's is a forum sponsor and sells crix very reasonable and even with shipping it is way cheaper than buying from a pet store. I agree that 1000 crix for a couple chams is way too many. You can get 250 or 500 from Ghanns; I used to get 250 of largest...

Exo Terra Monsoon RS400 Rainfall Sys

I agree that you should mist for longer periods fewer times a day. Unfortunately the monsoon system is a piece of crap. I had one for less than a year and had to have it replaced twice. The electronics are not waterproof and so after a few months it became unreliable. It often turned itself...

    Mist King and New Plants

I have an Aquazamp with a raindome and I love it. I used to have a monsoon and that was a piece of junk. My cham seems to like it to, he often stays in the mist enjoying the fine spray. I think that there is less waste water too which to me means that the moisture is staying in the air. Best...

Mystery Plants! Help me identify please!

The first one looks a bit like a Pilea cadierei; I wonder if it is not just leggy from inadequate lighting. It is not a rosary vine, they have much smaller leaves. Usually plants that are variegated need bright light because less green means less photosynthesis ability. So if a varigated plant...

Are Calci Worms ok to feed to my chameleon?

No need; calcium and phosphorous ratio are perfect naturally.

    Kale and romaine lettuce

Kale and other cruciferous vegetables contain calcium oxalates and goitregens. The oxalates can interfere with the uptake and metabolism of calcium and the goitregins can interfere with thyroid function, cause goiters and gout. Other plants high in oxalates include: spinach, beet greens...

Dubia roaches hasn't mated? no results yet

You are definitely going to have to be patient! I am not sure where the name Dubia comes from exactly but it is part of the scientific name Blaptica dubia; (It drives me crazy when people call them Dubai.. that is a place not a bug). I think people are generally creeped out by bugs and most...

    HELP...possible MBD and broken bone

You need to adjust your supplementation and gut loading. Flukers cubes are worthless in terms of gut loading. Repashy makes a good gut load product. Others offer this in addition to fresh fruits and veggies. You need to dust your feeders (crix and roaches) with plain calcium every time you...

    Chameleons can SWIM? YES!

That is great I am glad he is still doing well but do keep a close eye for signs of a respiratory infection such as sitting with his head extended upwards, gaping, or excessive mucus in his mouth. Sometimes it takes weeks or even months for an infection to become obvious. These animals are...
