your pic has at least the uvb bulb in it and loks like a basking lamp too...
by my rule of thumb i wouldn't put it within a foot of the lamp i would measure from the top of his casque to the light and make sure like i said it was at least 1 ft. thats just my opinion.
i wouldn't use that bulb. there are already dozens of reptile approved products that i would go to first. by siesta what do you mean? not eating, sleeping, or just standing still?
as covered before pygmy may stay in one spot for days waiting for food to scurry past.
is that what you meant?
if...
supers look just like mean worms to me so i dunno why you dont like them lol, but anyway you can get baby supers, and they can eat them if you feel the size is not right. supers look like they would be fun to feed since the freak out and will create a lot of motion for the cham so you could hand...
full spectrum in that instance would be ROYGBIV not really radiation light. from my understanding all floresecnts can give off anything, but they have a filter (that white stuff on the inside of the bulb) that filters out the uvb for use so we dont ruin our eyes, and risk sun burns inside lol...
im talking about Veiled chameleons. there are 2 types the more mountainous ones with a short casque, and a more arid type with the super tall casque. for you interests i would look at the super tall casque ones
Veiled is going to be your best bet, and if you can get one thats actually closer to the desert region with the high casque. temps in that area can hit amazing highs with the sand amplifying the heat. they are though, but more research on your part would be required. also is you raised it in...
its a bad habit you need to break him of. a lot of times this is caused by a lack of vegetation/ climbing area in the cage. IE too small only 1 plant ect, but you need to keep him from getting up there
hmm i remembered reading it on a website that sold them, but oh well. not to sound sarcastic, but have you personally seen them in action. im just curious
LMAO!!! i can just imagine that omg.
on average what would be a good feeding of these for 2 chams? would i just be able to hatch/ release in cage. if so i would do this in heart beat
iguanas are so mean, and they can run like the wind if they feel the need. chameleons are nice and slow, and cant do as much damage. unless you have a spare room, or intend in free ranging your iguana. deff go chameleon. water dragons are also something to look at the dont get too big, and all...
the amount of preformed A a dubia could hold is slim to none. think how tiny their stomach is, and how little they actually need to convert to sustain their life
my 2 ideas one in orange, and the other in green. the orange would be incorporating 2 separate drip catchers, and putting in to drains connecting to a T fitting with the bottom draining much like a 2 section kitchen sink. the green one would be made with a super long tote, or pan of some sort...
almost any insect that wants a taste. you remember it says "Could be" not there is.
at any rate i was gut loading with a Vitamin A enriched diet, and im pretty sure my guy suffered from a sever lack of vitamin A. The fact the animals are primarily plant/bug eater, and only eat the small animals...
long green beans i have heard are a winner specifically green giant frozen ones. i dont know why it makes a difference, but it does. i leave romaine lettuce in their cage on various branches, and they eat it, but i have to keep picking it back up, because they will drop it. They will never eat...
i supplement with D3, they still bask under the UVB tube. The cage is set up fron to back 5.0, and the middle right side is a 125W blue UVA day bulb (i dont know why, but this thing does not put off enough heat to burn tested by holding my hand against the screen for 5 mins and nothing just...
that looks like a case of following pet store advice to me. if you followed what half the people at the store i worked at thought it would die in under a day. thats why no one sells a reptile w.o consulting me, or the owner anymore per order of the store manager. got to make sure these guys have...
im glad they are continuing to do research on D3 levels in Chameleons. though not a new concept to the reptile world, but one that need to continue in the right direction. Chameleons will photo regulate, and have been monitored doing this in the wild. the 2008 exoterra expedition video is worth...
